Warning: Jackson Hewitt taking State refund for RAL advance without notice - Missouri
Just found out Jackson Hewitt took my entire state refund through Republic Bank for their refund advance loan. Missouri sent my refund on Jan 28th but it went straight to their account. No notification, nothing. Had to make 15 calls to figure this out. Posting to warn others who might be waiting on state refunds after getting an advance.

Tax preparer here - this is actually standard practice with Refund Advance Loans (RALs). The agreement typically allows them to collect from both federal AND state refunds. Always read the fine print - these companies usually have rights to both refunds to secure their loan. Next time, consider filing yourself or using a preparer that doesn't offer advances.

This happened to my sister too with a different tax place. The worst part is they don't even send you a proper breakdown showing how much went to fees vs the actual advance amount.
