Verified Identity Last Wednesday - Still No Transcript Update?
Anybody else verify their identity last Wednesday and still hasn't seen an update? Seems like the IRS systems should have processed something by now, doesn't it? Or is this just how they treat retirees these days? I'm not giving too many details here, but I completed the verification process exactly as instructed. Shouldn't there be some kind of acknowledgment by now? Or am I just being impatient?

According to IRS Publication 5192, identity verification acknowledgment typically appears within 9 business days of successful completion. Have you checked both your online account and transcript? Per Internal Revenue Manual 21.2.1.57, different systems update on different schedules. What verification method did you use - ID.me, in-person, or phone?

The verification backlog is significant right now. Seven business days isn't unusual. Check your transcript early morning or late evening when systems update. Don't rely on WMR tool alone. Look for Transaction Code 570 followed by 571 on your transcript when it updates.

This is exactly the kind of precise information I was looking for! I've been checking at exactly 3:47am when the system updates according to my research. I'll look specifically for those transaction codes - 570 and 571. Thanks for the exact codes to watch for!

I had this same issue last year. I verified my identity and then nothing happened for almost two weeks. I was checking like crazy every day. Then suddenly my transcript updated and my refund was deposited three days later. The waiting is so stressful, especially when you're not sure if you did something wrong!

Wait, there are specific times when the system updates? I've been checking randomly throughout the day since March 15th. I had no idea the complexity of these systems! Do different transcript types update on different schedules too?

Been there. Done that. Verification took 12 days to process for me. System updates happen overnight. Check transcript not WMR. WMR lags behind. Transcript shows real status. Be patient. Nothing's wrong.

After my identity verification, I experienced a prolonged Processing Delay Code on my Account Transcript with no movement for 16 days. Called the Identity Verification hotline repeatedly with no success - constant busy signals and disconnections. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to reach an actual agent who confirmed my verification was complete but still in queue for manual review. Agent expedited my case and transcript updated within 48 hours. Worth the service fee to avoid weeks more waiting.

Try checking your transcript instead of WMR! The Where's My Refund tool is about as useful as a chocolate teapot this time of year. I've found checking transcripts early morning (around 3-6am) sometimes shows updates before they appear elsewhere. Also check your IRS online account messages - sometimes they send notices there that don't come by mail.

I'd be careful about assuming everything's fine. Here's what I learned the hard way: 1. Check that your verification was actually completed successfully 2. Make sure you verified through the official IRS channel, not a scam site 3. Look for an email confirmation from ID.me if that's what you used 4. Check your spam folder for any IRS communications 5. If it's been more than 9 business days, you might need to call I waited patiently for two weeks only to discover my verification wasn't properly recorded in their system. Had to start over.

This happened to me last year too. I verified but nothing updated for weeks. When I finally got through to someone, they had no record of my verification. Had to redo everything and wait another 3 weeks. The IRS systems don't always talk to each other properly.

This is so helpful compared to what I experienced with state taxes. With state verification, there was at least a confirmation number and estimated timeline. The IRS process seems much more opaque.

Yup, happened 2 me too. ID verify didn't sync w/ main IRS system. Had 2 call & agent said no record of verification. Tech issue on their end. Had 2 reverify over phone. PITA but got fixed. Check ur acct transcript for TC 971 w/ notice code 6001 - means verify request sent. If u see that but no update, def call.

I might have some insight on this... I went through verification back in February. In my experience, it took about 9 business days before I saw any movement. I would suggest being patient a little longer, perhaps until this Friday or next Monday. The IRS systems tend to update overnight, so checking first thing in the morning might show changes. I was very concerned when mine didn't update right away too, but it did eventually process correctly.
