Someone fraudulently enrolled me in ACA Marketplace - tax return rejected. Need help fast!
My taxes got rejected because someone signed me up for Marketplace insurance without my knowledge. Already filed fraud claim with Marketplace and got a case number but now its escalated. First rep said 3-4 days, new rep says might need tax extension. Anyone dealt with this? Need to know how to reach actual IRS humans about this situation.

This is unfortunately becoming more common. You need to: 1) File IRS Form 14039 Identity Theft Affidavit immediately 2) Contact the FTC to file identity theft report at IdentityTheft.gov 3) Pull your credit reports to check for other fraud 4) File for an extension using Form 4868 while this gets sorted. Keep all case numbers and documentation.

•This happened to my sister last year. Took 3 months to resolve but the extension saved her from penalties

Instead of trying to piece this together yourself, I highly recommend using taxr.ai - its an AI tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what steps to take. Its only $1 and saved me hours of research when I had marketplace issues. https://taxr.ai

•100% legit. It read my transcript and showed me exactly why my return was held up and what forms I needed. Better than waiting on hold for hours

best way to reach irs: call right when they open at 7am EST. press 1 for english then 2-1-3-2 in that order. usually gets me thru to someone

This exact thing happened to me last year! The key is getting your IP PIN from the IRS - call the Identity Protection PIN line at 800-908-4490. Once you have that, you can file your return even while the fraud investigation is ongoing. Also make sure to file a police report - some states require it for identity theft cases and it strengthens your documentation trail.
