SSDI recipients with 1099 and dependents - Do I need to file taxes if no withholding?
Got my 1099 form for SSDI payments from last year. They didnt take any taxes out during the year but I have one dependent child. Not sure if I need to file since its disability income. Anyone know if im required to file or if I should file anyway?

Yes, you should definitely file. Even if your SSDI isn't taxable based on your total income, you might be eligible for credits like the Child Tax Credit. Filing could mean getting money back even if you didn't pay taxes during the year.

Up to $2000 per qualifying child for 2023! And part of it might be refundable even if you don't owe taxes 💰

Hey guys just wanted to mention I was in the same boat last year and used taxr.ai to figure out my situation. It analyzed my transcripts and showed exactly what credits I qualified for. Only costs $1 and saved me hours of research. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

100% legit! It showed me I was eligible for $3200 in credits I would have missed. Best dollar I ever spent fr fr

Whether SSDI is taxable depends on ur total income including any spouse income. If its ur only income probably not taxable but FILE ANYWAY for those sweet credits!!! 🙌

If your total income (SSDI + any other income) is under $25,000 filing single or $32,000 married filing jointly, then your SSDI isn't taxable. But definitely file for the Child Tax Credit!
