PATH act delays: Stop checking WMR & transcripts until after 2/17 - Info from IRS employee

I need to warn everyone on PATH - every time you check WMR or transcripts it flags your account and could trigger an audit! You wont see any updates until after February 17th anyway. This isn't just a guess - got this directly from someone who works there. Just wait it out!

This is completely false information. Checking Where's My Refund or your transcripts does NOT trigger audits or delay processing. The PATH Act delay is a legal requirement to prevent fraud, but checking your status has no impact on processing times.

The real reason for PATH delays is to prevent fraud with earned income credit and additional child tax credit. Nothing to do with how many times you check 👀
