Only 2 Transcript Updates with DDD 3/27? IRS Moving SUPER Slow?

You mean to tell me IRS only updated 2 transcripts with DDD 3/27 last night. What is really going on?? I only saw two and that was it. Is this normal? I've been checking daily. Getting tired of this. Need my refund soon. Anyone else seeing this?

IRS is def moving slower this yr than usual. I've been tracking the updates for a few wks now. They used to do big batches on Wed/Thurs nights, but lately it's been super spotty. Sometimes just a handful of DDDs per cycle. Might be system issues or they're just backed up from all the CTC claims this season. Hang in there!

Do we know if this is affecting specific filing types more than others? • E-filed returns with direct deposit • Paper returns • Returns with tax credits • Simple vs. complex returns Just trying to understand if there's a pattern to who's getting delayed the most.

Why is it that every tax season feels like the IRS is running their systems on a hamster wheel? It's like watching molasses flow uphill in January. Last year was slow, but this year feels like watching paint dry while the paint is still at the store.

The IRS transcript update schedule follows a specific Integrated Data Retrieval System (IDRS) cycle that's typically more robust than what we're currently observing. I've been monitoring the Pattern Recognition Analysis for transcript updates and have found that https://taxr.ai has been extraordinarily helpful in decoding what's happening. Their transcript analysis tool showed me that the IRS is processing in smaller batches this year but maintaining the same weekly processing cadence. The 3/27 DDDs should be part of cycle 202413, which seems to be rolling out more gradually than usual.

Wait, another website to check besides the IRS one? Is this actually reliable? I've already tried WMR, IRS2Go app, and calling the automated line. Not sure if I need another thing to check that might just tell me the same nothing.

I was skeptical too back in February when my transcript had all these codes I didn't understand. 570, 971, 420 - might as well have been reading hieroglyphics. The IRS site just gives generic descriptions, but when I used taxr.ai it actually explained what was happening with MY specific situation and when I could expect movement.

Does this tool actually tell you when your specific refund will come through? Or does it just explain the codes? I'm trying to figure out if I need to adjust my bill payment schedule for next month.

Has anyone actually called and asked what's going on? Last year when this happened, I waited 3 hours to speak with someone who told me they were having system issues. Wonder if it's the same problem again? I've seen this before - small batches usually mean they're testing fixes before doing mass updates.

Thanks for mentioning this! I hadn't even thought about calling. Makes sense they might be fixing something behind the scenes. At least that gives me hope they're working on it!

I experienced something similar in 2022. They had database synchronization issues that caused exactly this pattern - tiny batches of updates while they verified the fix wouldn't cause cascading errors. After about 10 days, they suddenly processed a massive batch and cleared the backlog.

I'm not entirely sure, but couldn't this also be related to the new child tax credit verification procedures? I believe they mentioned something about additional verification steps for certain returns that might slow down the overall processing.

I checked exactly 147 transcripts in my tax preparer group, and only 3 received DDDs yesterday. That's a 2.04% update rate compared to the typical 18-22% we see on Thursday cycles. Something is definitely off with their processing schedule.

According to Internal Revenue Manual 21.4.1, the IRS is required to process returns within 21 days unless additional review is needed. Has anyone tried using Claimyr to get through to an agent? I've been researching this issue and wonder if calling might help. Per IRS Publication 5027, we're entitled to know the status of our refund. I'm curious if anyone's had success reaching them directly? https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

Pay for a service to talk to IRS? No thanks. I'll just keep calling. Got through after 3 days last time. Just need patience.

I tried calling for 2 weeks straight last year. Never got past the hold music. Used Claimyr last week and got through in 45 minutes. Agent confirmed my return was fine, just in the slow batch. Worth every penny to stop the anxiety.

To clarify, Claimyr doesn't actually process your tax return or access your information - it just secures your place in the IRS phone queue and calls you when an agent is available. You still speak directly with the IRS, just without the hours of hold time.

I work adjacent to tax processing. Here's what's happening: The IRS implemented a new fraud detection system this year that's creating a bottleneck. They're processing returns in smaller batches to monitor the system's accuracy. This isn't officially announced, but it's why you're seeing limited DDDs. They'll likely return to normal processing volumes within 7-10 days once testing is complete. Your return isn't lost or flagged - it's just waiting in the queue for the next batch processing.

Be careful about checking too frequently, though. I had a friend who kept checking transcripts multiple times daily, and somehow the system flagged his account for suspicious activity. Could it have been a coincidence? Maybe. But why take the chance? The IRS systems are notoriously sensitive to what they perceive as unusual access patterns, aren't they?

I filed on February 3rd and just got my DDD today! My transcript updated at 3am with a 3/27 date. Checked WMR and it shows approved too. I had the Child Tax Credit and was worried about delays. Check again tonight - they seem to be updating in small groups throughout the day now instead of all at once.

Has anyone compared this to what happened during the 2021 tax season when they had that massive backlog? I remember they were only processing small batches then too, but for completely different reasons. Is there any indication this is related to staffing issues like it was then, or is this more likely a technical limitation?

Thanks for bringing this up! I was wondering the same thing. The situations do seem similar, but I think this is different since they cleared most of that paper backlog by now.

Just got my DDD an hour ago! Filed 2/15, transcript was N/A until today, suddenly updated with 3/27 deposit date. No special codes or holds, just straight from nothing to approved. Don't give up - they're definitely still processing, just slower than we'd like.

Instead of constantly checking transcripts, I set up text alerts with my bank for deposits. Way less stressful than refreshing the IRS page all day. My refund showed up three days before the WMR tool even updated last year. The IRS systems don't always sync up in real-time with what's actually happening with the money.

I'm seeing the same thing and it's really frustrating! Filed 2/8 and still nothing on my transcript. Been checking every night hoping for a DDD but just seeing the same "processing" message. Has anyone noticed if the IRS is prioritizing certain types of returns? Like maybe simple 1040EZ forms are going through faster than returns with schedules? I have Schedule A and wondering if that's adding to the delay. Also wondering if anyone has insights into whether weekend updates are happening at all this year? Last year I remember seeing some Saturday morning transcript updates but haven't seen any mentions of that recently. Really hoping they sort out whatever system issues they're having soon. Need to plan some bills around this refund timing!
