New August 26 570 Hold Code After Partial $105 Refund - No Notice Received After TAS Involvement
After working with a tax advocate and submitting wage verification, I noticed several codes on my transcript including a 570 code dated for 08-26-2024. Looking at my transcript, there's a sequence of actions that I'm trying to understand: TRANSACTIONS CODE EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION DATE AMOUNT 570 Additional account action pending 03-11-2024 971 Notice issued 03-18-2024 290 Additional tax assessed 20241501 04-29-2024 846 Refund issued 04-11-2024 $105 570 Additional account action pending 08-26-2024 This Product Contains Sensitive Taxpayer Data So essentially I had a 570 "Additional account action pending" on 03-11-2024, followed by a 971 "Notice issued" on 03-18-2024. Then there's a 290 "Additional tax assessed" with cycle code 20241501 dated 04-29-2024, and they even issued a tiny refund of $105 on 04-11-2024 (code 846). Now there's this new 570 "Additional account action pending" dated 08-26-2024, but I haven't received any new notices explaining what's going on. I'm getting worried this might drag into next year since there's no resolution immediately following this latest 570 code. Does anyone know what this pattern of codes means? Is the second 570 code related to the first one, or is this a completely new issue? Should I be contacting my tax advocate again? The only communication I received was after the first 570 code, but nothing explaining this new hold from August.

The sequence of transcript codes reveals a complex review process of your tax account. The initial 570 code from March 11, 2024, indicates the IRS placed a hold on your account, followed by a notice (971 code) issued on March 18 - likely explaining the review. By April 29, they assessed additional tax (290 code), but interestingly processed a minimal $5 refund (846 code) on April 11. The most concerning element is the new 570 code dated August 26, 2024 - this future date suggests your account review will extend into the next processing cycle. The cycle code 20241501 on your additional tax assessment provides more detail - "2024" represents the processing year, "15" indicates the week of the year, and "01" is the processing day. This means your assessment was processed in the 15th week of 2024. This pattern of codes suggests your account is under continued IRS review, possibly related to the wage verification you submitted. When a 570 code appears with a future date, it typically means the IRS has scheduled another review period, which could delay final resolution of your case until at least late August 2024.

•Not necessarily. Future dated holds can be resolved earlier. It's just a placeholder date for their systems.

Hey guys! I was in the same boat and was going crazy trying to figure out my transcript. I found this tool called taxr.ai that actually analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. It costs $1 but saved me hours of research and stress. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! It uses AI to read all the codes and dates, then explains everything in plain English. Even tells you what to do next

Did your advocate say anything about the new hold? Mine usually tells me when something new pops up

I had a similar situation last year with multiple 570 codes and no communication from the IRS. The key thing is that the August 2024 date doesn't necessarily mean they'll hold everything until then - it's more like a system placeholder. When I had this happen, my advocate told me that future-dated 570 codes often get resolved much earlier, especially if you stay on top of it. I'd definitely reach out to your tax advocate again since they have better access to what's actually happening behind the scenes. The fact that you got a small refund in April suggests they're processing parts of your return, which is actually a good sign that things are moving forward even if slowly.
