Need help with IRS identity verification recall - any tips?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get on the list for an IRS identity verification recall. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I've been dealing with this for months. The IRS is so backed up, it's ridiculous. Good luck getting through to anyone!

Have you tried calling early in the morning? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried everything. Early morning, late afternoon, different days of the week. No luck so far. šŸ˜«

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone at the IRS. šŸ˜¬

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally get my issue resolved.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically they have a system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. Saved me hours of hold time.

Here's what you need to know about IRS identity verification: ā€¢ It's usually required if there's suspicion of identity theft or fraud ā€¢ You'll need to provide personal info like SSN, date of birth, and filing status ā€¢ Have your previous year's tax return handy ā€¢ Be prepared to answer questions about your credit history ā€¢ If you can't verify online, you may need to schedule an in-person appointment The process can take a while, so be patient. If you're having trouble getting through on the phone, keep trying different times of day. Good luck!

This is great advice. I wish I had known all this when I started my process. Took me forever to figure it out on my own.

Has anyone tried using the IRS2Go app? I heard it can sometimes be faster for checking status updates.

I use it, but it just tells me my refund is still processing. Not very helpful tbh

The app is okay for basic stuff, but for complex issues like identity verification, you really need to talk to a human.

Pro tip: If you're having trouble getting through on the main IRS line, try calling your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help push things along.

This! šŸ‘† The Taxpayer Advocate Service saved my butt last year when I was dealing with a similar issue.

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to be as frustrating as possible? It's like they want us to give up. šŸ˜¤

Preach! šŸ™Œ Sometimes I wonder if they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming refunds.
