Need Contact Number for TurboTax's Bank Partner (Cross River) for Early Refund

Does anyone happen to have the customer service number for Cross River Bank? Or whatever bank TurboTax is partnering with this year for their 'get your refund 5 days early' program? I've been trying to track down my refund advance, but can't seem to find direct contact information anywhere on their website. Isn't it strange how they make it so difficult to reach them directly? I've checked my TurboTax account multiple times, but all it shows is 'processing' status with no additional details. As someone new to the US tax system, I'm trying to understand if this delay is normal or if I need to take action.

For TurboTax's early refund program with Cross River Bank, here's what you need to know: • Their customer service number is 1-855-473-0197 • Hours are typically 8AM-8PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday • You'll need your TurboTax account info and possibly your filing reference number • Wait times can be long during peak tax season (we're in it right now) • Alternative contact: support@crossriver.com (but phone is usually faster) The 5-day early program is actually an advance based on your expected refund, not your actual refund arriving early.

I'm curious about how this process actually works. Does Cross River Bank issue a temporary advance and then recoup it when your actual refund arrives? And is this why some people experience delays - because they're waiting for the bank to process the advance rather than waiting for the IRS itself? I've always been hesitant to use these early refund services because I wasn't sure about the behind-the-scenes mechanics.

If you're having trouble reaching Cross River, you might want to try calling the IRS directly to check your refund status first. The problem is their phone lines are absolutely swamped right now. I had the same issue last week and spent 3 hours on hold before getting disconnected. I finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through - they got me connected to an actual IRS agent in about 20 minutes who confirmed my refund was approved but the bank was holding things up on their end. Saved me days of frustration. The IRS agent was able to give me details that neither TurboTax nor the bank's automated system provided.

I should perhaps mention that Cross River Bank isn't the only institution TurboTax partners with for refund advances. Depending on when and how you filed, you might actually be dealing with Santa Barbara Tax Products Group or First Century Bank. You may want to check your TurboTax confirmation emails carefully to identify which financial institution is handling your specific refund. This could potentially explain why you're having difficulty finding the correct contact information.

This is mostly correct, but there's a small update for 2024. TurboTax is primarily using Cross River Bank for their refund advances this year, though some accounts might still be processed through First Century Bank depending on certain eligibility factors. Santa Barbara TPG is handling more of their refund transfers rather than advances. The documentation should specify which one is handling your particular case.

Thank you! I just checked my emails and I do have First Century Bank listed. No wonder I couldn't find the right contact info. I need this money ASAP for car repairs so this is super helpful!

Has anyone actually received their refund advance in the promised timeframe? I applied through TurboTax on February 2nd, was approved for the advance on February 3rd, but didn't actually see the money until February 12th. And then they still took their fee out of my actual refund when it came through later. Seemed like false advertising to me?

This early refund situation is like trying to track a package that's been handed off between multiple delivery services - it becomes unclear who actually has it at any given moment. I've been in your shoes and was getting increasingly worried as days passed. What helped me was using taxr.ai to analyze my tax transcript - it showed exactly where my refund was in the process and confirmed the bank was the holdup, not the IRS. It's like having x-ray vision into the black box of tax processing. The site is https://taxr.ai and it helped me understand that my refund was actually approved but stuck in the bank's processing queue.

I checked out taxr.ai on March 15th after seeing recommendations here, but I'm not convinced it provides anything you can't get directly from the IRS transcript. Does it actually give you information about the bank processing stage? Because the IRS transcript wouldn't show anything after the IRS releases the funds.

I'm not entirely convinced these 'early refund' programs are worth the potential headaches. Has anyone calculated the effective APR on these advances? If you're getting your refund maybe 5 days early but paying a 'processing fee,' you might effectively be paying an extremely high interest rate for a very short-term loan. The Refund Advance Product Terms likely contain stipulations about how the Transaction Fee is calculated relative to the Refund Advance Amount.

Tbh the early refund program can be worth it in certain situations. I've used it for 3 yrs now with no probs. The key is understanding it's basically a short-term loan against your expected refund, not actually getting your refund faster from the IRS. If you need $ immediately and can't wait the extra week, the fee might be reasonable. But def read the fine print - some ppl don't realize they're paying for the convenience. Cross River's customer svc can be reached at 855-473-0197 (I just used it last wk).

Has anyone received their refund through Cross River in exactly 5 days as advertised? I applied on March 2nd and was told I'd have funds by March 7th, but it's now March 12th and still nothing. I've called their customer service line at 1-855-473-0197 exactly 4 times, with wait times of 37 minutes, 42 minutes, 28 minutes, and 51 minutes respectively. Each time I was told something different about the status.

Contact info changes yearly. Check your TurboTax confirmation email. Look for "refund advance provider" section. Current number should be there. Save all communications. Document all calls. Request case numbers when calling. Different representatives give different answers. Persistence is key.

I went through this exact runaround last tax season! 😂 Called every number I could find and kept getting transferred between departments. The secret backdoor number I finally discovered was their specialized refund advance team at 1-844-774-7029. Not sure if it's still active this year, but worth a try. The technical explanation for what's happening: TurboTax uses a temporary account to receive your refund from the IRS, then they deduct their fees, and transfer the remainder to your designated account. Each step has its own processing time and verification protocols. The "5 days early" clock often doesn't start until after the IRS has actually released funds to this temporary account.
