Navy Federal Users - Call to Get Your Tax Refund Deposit Date

Just wanted to share a tip that worked for me last year too. If you have Navy Federal Credit Union, call their customer service line and they can tell you when your tax refund is scheduled to be deposited. Just got off the phone with them and my refund is coming February 25th. Saved me from checking the WMR tool every 3 hours like I did last tax season. Anyone else had success with their banks giving this info ahead of the IRS?

This isn't entirely accurate information. What you're seeing is a pending ACH transaction notification, not definitive confirmation of IRS disbursement. Financial institutions receive Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) notifications approximately 1-5 business days before actual settlement. However, these pre-notifications can be canceled or modified by the IRS without warning if there are processing anomalies or verification holds. I'd be somewhat cautious about considering this date guaranteed.

Thanks for clarifying this! I've had this exact situation happen where Navy Federal showed a pending deposit that disappeared because the IRS pulled it back for additional verification. According to IRM 21.4.1.4, the IRS reserves the right to recall ACH transfers up to the settlement date if verification parameters aren't met.

Does this apply to all banks or just Navy Federal? I've been checking the IRS2Go app and it still shows processing, but wondering if Chase would have this information available to their customer service reps too?

I was so nervous about my refund this year (first time filing with a small business) that I was checking WMR literally every hour ๐Ÿ˜… Someone on this sub recommended https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it gave me the exact deposit date three days before Navy Federal even showed it pending! It explained all those weird codes on my transcript too. I was getting 570/971 codes and freaking out but the tool explained it was just normal processing for my situation.

OMG THANK YOU for this post!!! ๐Ÿ™Œ I've been trying to call the IRS for DAYS about my refund status and couldn't get through! So frustrating! Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get past the hold times and spoke to an agent in about 15 minutes! They confirmed my refund is scheduled for the 27th - which matches exactly what Navy Federal told me when I called them after seeing your post! Double confirmation feels AMAZING after weeks of anxiety!

Did Claimyr actually work? I've been on hold with the IRS for exactly 2 hours and 17 minutes today already. Is it really worth paying for when I could just keep trying the regular number?

I'm possibly considering using this service, but I'm wondering if they need any personal information? And did the IRS agent possibly mention anything about the refund date possibly changing after they gave you that information?

I had a situation last year where my credit union showed a pending deposit, but then it disappeared. What happened? The IRS had flagged my return for identity verification. Isn't it better to wait for official confirmation rather than getting hopes up based on preliminary banking information? The banking system only shows intent to pay, not confirmed payment.

Has anyone with USAA been able to get their DDD from customer service? I filed on January 29th and my transcript shows a 846 code but no deposit yet. Would calling my bank actually help at this point?

Just to clarify what's happening here: Think of the tax refund process like sending a package with tracking. What Navy Federal is seeing is essentially the shipping label being created (the ACH notification), not the actual package being picked up by the carrier (the IRS releasing funds). The IRS sends these notifications to financial institutions as a heads-up, but until the actual settlement date, the funds aren't truly released from Treasury.

Just tried this w/ my CU and it worked! They confirmed my refund is coming 2/26. WMR still shows processing but my CU rep said they can see pending ACH deposits up to 5 days before they hit accts. Thx for the tip OP! Saved me from checking WMR 20x/day lol.
