Mailed 2022 tax return 2 weeks ago - How to check if IRS received it?
Hey everyone, I mailed my 2022 tax return about two weeks ago because I couldn't file electronically. Now I'm wondering if the IRS has received it yet. Anyone know how long it usually takes or how I can check on the status? I'm getting a bit anxious waiting for confirmation.

Welcome to the waiting game! 😅 Here's what you can do: 1. Chill for a bit. The IRS usually sends a confirmation letter once they process your return. 2. After about 4 weeks, use the "Where's My Refund?" tool on the IRS website. It'll give you an update on your refund status. Hang in there, tax season is always a rollercoaster!

Pro tip: Next time, use certified mail with return receipt. It costs a bit more, but you'll know exactly when the IRS receives your return. Saved me a ton of anxiety last year!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat, sent mine 3 weeks ago and radio silence. The IRS is so slow, it's like they're using carrier pigeons or something 🐦

Hey guys, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•$20 to skip the hold? Idk man, seems kinda steep...

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it if you're desperate to talk to someone.

•How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to be on the phone that whole time. They called me when an agent was ready.

Anyone else notice how the IRS can take forever to process our returns, but if we owe them money, they want it like yesterday? 🙄 The system is so broken.

•Preach! 🙌 It's always hurry up and wait with them, unless it's time for us to pay

Have you tried checking your tax transcript on the IRS website? Sometimes that updates before the Where's My Refund tool. Might give you some peace of mind.

Two weeks is still pretty normal for mail processing! I know the waiting is stressful, but here's what helped me last year: if you're really worried, you can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and ask if they've received your return (though expect to wait on hold). Also, keep copies of everything you mailed - if it somehow gets lost, you'll need those to refile. The good news is that most mailed returns do make it through the system, it just takes longer than e-filing. Hang in there! 📬
