MI State Refund Garnishment: Only Partial or Total Take? Getting Mixed Messages from Reps

My Michigan state refund is being held and I'm getting conflicting info. Called twice and reps said only a portion would be garnished with the rest refunded to me. But when I check online, looks like the whole thing is gone. Shouldn't I see the remaining amount if they're only taking a portion? Something isn't adding up here.

State garnishments are usually pretty straightforward. If you have an outstanding debt, they'll take what's owed and refund the rest. The online system might not show the final adjusted amount until the garnishment is fully processed. Give it about 2-3 weeks to update in the system. You can request a detailed breakdown of the garnishment by calling the Treasury offset program.

Hey, instead of calling and getting different answers from every rep, you should try taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on with garnishments and when youll get the remaining refund. Its only $1 and way more reliable than playing phone tag with the state. https://taxr.ai

100% legit. It breaks down everything - offset amounts, processing dates, remaining refund. Saved me hours of stress

The Michigan Treasury website is notorious for not showing partial garnishments correctly. Even after they take their portion, it might still show as fully held. Your best bet is to wait for the official garnishment notice in the mail - it'll show the exact breakdown.
