Just got selected for income verification for my 2024 taxes. Never had to do this before. Anyone know what they ask for? Can you do it online? Did you get your refund before or after verification?

Tax professional here - Income verification is pretty standard. You can verify through ID.me online. They'll ask for things like W2s, paystubs, and ID documents. DO NOT ignore this - it will delay your refund. Most people get their refund after verification is complete, usually takes 2-3 weeks if everything matches up.

Just went through this last week! The whole process was actually pretty straightforward. Make sure you have all your docs ready before you start - W2s, last paystub, driver's license, and a recent utility bill. The ID.me verification took about 15 minutes once I had everything uploaded.
