In-Person Verification Appointment: Bring Original or Amended 2023 Return?
Got my verification appointment scheduled with the IRS office next week. Amended my 2023 taxes few months ago and not sure which return to bring - the original one I filed first or the amended version? Don't wanna mess this up and have to reschedule.

Bring both returns. The IRS will want to see the original return and the amended return (Form 1040-X) to verify the changes made. Also bring any supporting documents that justify the amendments - W2s, 1099s, receipts, or whatever documentation you used to make the changes. Better to have too much documentation than not enough.

Also bring a backup copy of everything! I had my appointment last year and the agent made copies of my documents but it's good to have your own set just in case. And if you have any bank statements or other supporting docs that relate to the amended portions, bring those too. The more documentation you have to support your case, the smoother the process will be. Good luck with your appointment!
