Identity Verified by Phone on Monday - Any Transcript Updates?

Has anyone who verified their identity over the phone recently seen transcript updates? I finally got through to verify on Monday, April 22nd and I'm hoping to see something on my transcript by tomorrow. I've been planning everything down to the penny since I filed back in February. My mom needs some medical equipment that insurance won't fully cover, and I've been checking my transcript almost daily. The rep said 9 business days for processing to resume, but I've heard some people see movement sooner. Just trying to set my expectations realistically.

I went through ID verification over the phone last month. In my experience, it took about 5-7 business days to see the first transcript update after verification. The system doesn't update instantly - there's a processing queue they have to work through. Last year was even worse... took almost 3 weeks after verification. Don't panic if you don't see anything tomorrow, though that would be nice! Just keep checking your transcript every morning (they typically update overnight between 3-5am). You should see a 971 notice code first, followed by other movement.

Wait, so does that mean the 9 business days is just their standard line? I'm wondering if it actually varies based on how backed up they are?

Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm on day 6 after verification and was starting to get worried. This makes me feel so much better knowing there's still hope! šŸ™

After your verification, did you get any kind of confirmation email or letter? I verified last week and haven't received anything to confirm it was processed correctly.

If you need to speak with an actual IRS agent again to check your status, I highly recommend using Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com). After my ID verification, I had some concerns about a missing W-2, and I spent approximately 3.5 hours on hold using the standard IRS telephone queue. Ultimately, I utilized Claimyr's service and was connected to an IRS representative in under 20 minutes. The representative confirmed that my verification was properly recorded in their system and provided an Estimated Deposit Date (EDD). The service fee was nominal compared to the peace of mind I received knowing exactly where my return stood in the processing pipeline.

I verified over the phone on April 17th and just saw my transcript update today! The 570 hold code disappeared and got replaced with an 846 DDD for next Wed. Hang in there! I was literally checking WMR and transcripts like 3x a day bc I'm so broke rn and needed to know when $ was coming. The waiting is the WORST part esp when u need the $$ for something important. Hope u see movement soon!

Thank you for sharing this! It gives me hope that the process is actually working. I verified two days ago and was starting to worry.

This is reassuring! I'm trying to make my last $200 stretch until my refund arrives, and knowing there's light at the end of the tunnel helps tremendously.

Did you have any specific credits on your return? I'm wondering if that affects the timeline after verification. I claimed EITC so I'm concerned that might add more time.

After my ID verification, I had difficulty interpreting the transcript codes that appeared. Used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it correctly identified that my 570 freeze code was specifically related to the identity verification process rather than an audit or other issue. The analysis showed that based on my cycle code and processing pattern, I should expect resolution within 7-10 days post-verification. The prediction was accurate as my DDD appeared exactly 8 days after verification. The transcript codes can be cryptic but having them properly interpreted helps manage expectations.

Be careful about expectations after verification! I've tracked post-verification timelines for the past two tax seasons, and here's what I've observed: ā€¢ Standard processing: 5-9 business days for transcript updates ā€¢ Returns with credits (CTC/EITC): 7-12 business days ā€¢ Returns with amended information: 12-21 business days ā€¢ Returns flagged for additional review: 14-30+ business days The most common issue is that verification only solves the identity problem. If there are other issues with your return, they'll start working on those AFTER verification completes. About 22% of verified returns end up with secondary holds, so don't assume verification is the only hurdle.

This breakdown is incredibly helpful! I never realized there were such specific timeframes for different situations. This helps me understand why my friend got her refund so much faster than I did after verification.

So if I'm understanding correctly, the verification is just like getting through the first door, but there could be more doors after that one? No wonder the process feels endless sometimes!

In your data tracking, did you notice any patterns related to specific cycle codes? My transcript shows cycle code 20231705 and I'm trying to determine if that indicates a particular processing timeline. Also, were there any correlations between verification method (phone vs. in-person) and processing speed?

You might want to consider checking your Account Transcript rather than just the Return Transcript, if you haven't already. Sometimes, the Account Transcript will show processing updates that aren't yet reflected in the Return Transcript. Also, it's possibly worth checking the Where's My Refund tool, though in my experience, it tends to update somewhat later than the transcripts do. I believe many people get transcript updates before WMR shows any change.

Don't get your hopes up too much. I verified on March 15th and didn't see ANY updates for 3 weeks. Called again and found out they had a "secondary review" that wasn't disclosed during verification. Had to wait another 2 weeks after that. They never tell you the full story on the first call. Just prepare yourself for a longer wait than they promise.

Thanks for the reality check. I'll try to be patient and not count on this money coming through quickly. Better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed.

I think I may have had a similar situation to yours. I verified my identity on April 10th, and my transcript updated exactly 6 business days later. First I saw code 971 appear (notice issued), then the next day I got code 846 with a direct deposit date. My verification was specifically for the tax advocate PIN issue though, so your timeline might be slightly different if your verification was for something else.

This is really helpful information! It's good to hear from someone who's recently been through the process successfully.

I had almost the exact same experience last year, but it took 8 business days instead of 6. I think they're processing a bit faster this year compared to last year's backlog.

When you say "tax advocate PIN issue" - was that related to an Identity Protection PIN or something different? I'm trying to understand if different verification reasons have different timelines.

Did they tell you exactly what triggered the verification requirement in the first place? Sometimes knowing that helps predict how long the rest of the process will take.
