ID Verification Complete - Anyone Seeing Transcript Updates Yet?

I know a lot of us have had to ID Verify this year and a lot of us have already completed the process. Out of everyone that has already completed your verification, have you seen any updates on wmr, or transcripts populating yet? If so, how long did it take after you completed your verification? It's been a little over a week for me (verified on March 14th) and I'm still blank on my transcripts. Really need this refund to cover some gig expenses coming up, but don't want to get my hopes up for a specific date.

I went through ID verify back in February and it took exactly 9 days for my transcripts to update. When they did, everything happened fast - transcript updated on a Thursday and I had my refund by Tuesday. I was freaking out too because I needed that money for car repairs so I could keep doing DoorDash. The waiting is the worst part! Hang in there - a week is still within normal timeframes from what I've seen this year.

Thanks for sharing your timeline! Isn't it frustrating how they make us wait with zero information? I'm hoping mine follows your pattern, but who knows with the IRS these days?

Wait, 9 days seems quick compared to what I've been reading! Most people in the Facebook tax groups are saying 2-3 weeks minimum. Was this for a simple return or did you have credits and stuff? My sister verified last year and it took almost a month.

Did your WMR update before or after your transcript? Mine's been stuck on "still processing" for ages and idk if I should keep checking transcripts or just the WMR app.

I think it's important to note that... verification timeframes can vary quite a bit this season. I've seen people wait anywhere from 7 days to 3 weeks. If you're trying to understand what's happening with your transcripts while you wait, you might want to try https://taxr.ai - it helped me make sense of all the codes and dates on my transcript once it finally populated. It can tell you exactly what each code means and give you a better idea of your timeline... just something to consider when your transcript does update.

After my ID verification, I was in the same boat with blank transcripts. Here's what worked for me: • Called the IRS using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) after two weeks of no updates • Got through to an agent in about 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours • Found out my return was just sitting in a queue waiting for manual review • Agent was able to expedite it since I explained my financial situation So relieved I didn't just keep waiting in the dark! My transcripts updated 3 days after that call.

Is this service really worth it though? I've heard mixed things about paying to get through to the IRS when you can just call early in the morning and eventually get through for free. What exactly did they do that you couldn't?

I'm considering trying this. Did you have to pay exactly $29.99 for the service? And did they require any personal information beyond your phone number to connect the call? I've been on hold for 87 minutes twice this week before getting disconnected.

Last year I had to verify my identity too, and it took 12 days for my transcripts to update. This year was much faster - only 5 days. I've noticed a pattern where if you e-filed before mid-February, the verification process seems to move quicker. Returns filed in March (like yours) seem to be taking longer to process after verification, probably because of the higher volume they're dealing with now. The IRS is definitely moving faster than they did during the COVID backlog years, but still not as fast as pre-2020.

It's like a traffic jam on the highway - the earlier you get on, the faster you move. I filed January 29th this year, had to verify February 3rd, and my transcripts updated February 10th. Think of the IRS processing system like a funnel that gets narrower as tax season progresses. Each week that passes adds thousands more returns competing for the same number of processors.

Watch out for the fake update trap! My transcripts showed N/A for 2 weeks after verification, then briefly updated showing a refund date, then went BACK to N/A for another week! The IRS2Go app kept showing different statuses than the website. According to the IRS website (https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions) it can take up to 9 weeks after verification for some returns. I'm on week 4 now and desperately need this money for rent due on the 1st!

Have you checked your account transcript instead of just the return transcript? Sometimes the account transcript will show processing codes even when the return transcript is still blank. Look for TC 570/971 codes which indicate they're reviewing something. Also, did you get any indication of why they needed verification in the first place? That can sometimes hint at what might be causing delays.
