IRS Refund Still Pending After 7 Months: Transcript Shows Freeze, Tax Advocate Assigned, and "Action Pending" on 11/25/24

I filed my taxes as Head of Household with 2 exemptions back in April. My return shows an Adjusted Gross Income of $51,576.00 and Taxable Income of $30,776.00 with a tax of $1,179.00. When I look at my transcript, I can see: - Tax return filed on 04-15-2024: $1,179.00 - W-2 or 1099 withholding: -$5,795.00 - Credit to my account: -$6,417.00 - Refund freeze from 03-07-2024 - Payment of -$1.00 on 11-04-2024 - Dishonored payment of $1.00 on 11-04-2024 - "Additional account action pending" dated 11-25-2024 - Amended tax return or claim forwarded for processing on 11-04-2024 - Amended return filed on 11-04-2024 My account shows a balance of -$11,033.00 as of Nov. 18, 2024, with no accrued interest or penalties. The problem is that I still haven't received my refund, and when I call the IRS they say they can't give me any information about my return right now. I have a tax advocate assigned to my case, but I'm getting no updates. Is this normal? Anyone else experiencing this after getting an advocate? I'm especially confused about the refund freeze from March, the amended return notations, and why there's an "additional account action pending" for November 25th. It's been over 7 months since I filed!

Tax professional here - This is actually completely normal. Once a Tax Advocate is assigned to your case, the regular IRS reps aren't supposed to interfere with the case. They redirect all inquiries through your advocate to prevent confusion or conflicting information.

Hey guys instead of stressing about what the IRS may or may not tell you, try using taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening. Its only $4.99 and WAY better than trying to piece together clues from different IRS reps. https://taxr.ai
