IRS sent non-filing letter despite filing taxes on time - Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I filed my taxes on time, but now I'm getting a letter from the IRS saying I didn't file. My account is showing a letter of non-filing. Has anyone else dealt with this? It's so frustrating because I know I did everything right. Any advice on how to handle this situation?

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Don't panic! This happens more often than you'd think. 2. Gather all your documents - your tax return copy, any confirmation emails, etc. 3. Call the IRS (I know, I know, it's a pain) 4. Explain the situation calmly and ask them to verify if they received your return 5. If they can't find it, you might need to resend it 6. Keep records of all your calls and correspondence Hang in there, it'll get sorted out!

•This is solid advice! I'd add one thing - make sure to get the name and badge number of every IRS agent you talk to. It helps if you need to follow up later.

•For real tho, their systems are so outdated. I heard they still use computers from the 60s 💀

•Hey now, let's not be too harsh. The IRS is understaffed and overworked. Mistakes happen.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

•20 bucks? No way, I'd rather wait on hold for 3 hours 🙄

•I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

•How does it work exactly? Do they give you a specific time to expect the call?

•@profile 10 Yeah, you choose which IRS line you need, pay, and they start calling right away. When an agent picks up, your phone rings. Super simple.

Have you checked your transcript online? Sometimes it shows info that's not on your account page.

The IRS is such a joke. They can take our money no problem, but when it comes to processing returns, suddenly they're all thumbs 🙄

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they're playing baseball with our tax returns and keep striking out

Did you file electronically or by mail? If you mailed it, there's a chance it got lost. Either way, you should be able to get this straightened out. Just be patient and persistent!

•I filed electronically, which is why I'm so confused. But you're right, I'll keep at it until it's resolved.

pro tip: if u cant get thru on the main IRS line, try calling your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. theyre usually easier to reach and can help with stuff like this
