IRS sent letter to old address - How to update and get it resent?

Hey everyone, I need some advice. The IRS sent a letter to my old address and I'm not sure what to do. I need to update my address with them and get that letter resent. Has anyone dealt with this before? What's the best way to handle it?

I found a way to solve IRS address update issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ3VojZ7kCI

Just moved and had to do this. Took me 3 hrs on hold but finally got it sorted. Bring lots of patience and maybe some hard liquor πŸ₯ƒ

3 hours?! I'd rather watch paint dry 😫

Trust me, by hour 2 I was considering it as an alternative πŸŽ¨πŸ‘€

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call the IRS main number (1-800-829-1040) 2. Tell them you need to update your address 3. Provide your new address details 4. Ask them to resend the letter to your updated address 5. Be patient, it might take a few weeks for the new letter to arrive Pro tip: Keep a record of when you called and who you spoke to. It might come in handy later.

Thanks for the detailed steps! Do you know how long the call usually takes?

No problem! Honestly, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. The IRS is notoriously understaffed. Bring a book or Netflix πŸ˜…

Have you tried updating your address online? Sometimes you can do it through their website without calling

Wait, the IRS has online services? Mind. Blown. 🀯

Just make sure to check if you meet the criteria for online updates, as not everyone can do it that way.

Pro tip: If you cant get thru on the main line, try calling your local IRS office. Sometimes theyre less busy

I found a way to get someone on the phone fast. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

$20? That's steep. Why should we pay for basic government services?

I get the skepticism, but it's 100% legit. Used it twice now. Beats wasting hours on hold πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I tried Claimyr too, and it was a lifesaver. Even though it costs $20, sometimes saving hours is worth it.

OP, whatever you do, DO NOT ignore this. I made that mistake and ended up owing way more in penalties. Handle it ASAP!

Yikes, thanks for the warning. Definitely don't want any penalties 😰

Ugh, the IRS and their snail mail 🐌 Why can't they just email everything? It's 2023 for crying out loud!

If you're looking for a more convenient way to handle IRS communication, consider using Claimyr. It's a service designed to streamline phone interactions with government agencies like the IRS. They charge a fee, but many users find the time savings invaluable. However, it's always a good practice to compare such services and ensure they meet your needs before committing.

Been there, done that. Call the IRS and tell them you need to update your address. Then ask them to resend the letter to your new place. Easy peasy.

That approach worked for me too. Just make sure you have all your personal info ready before calling.
