IRS sent incorrect notice, can't reach anyone to dispute. Help!
I got a notice in the mail from the IRS that I don't agree with. They're saying I owe money but I'm pretty sure it's a mistake. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm trying to get ahold of someone at the IRS to dispute it, but it's been impossible to reach a real person. I've been on hold for hours and keep getting disconnected. Any advice on how to handle this or get through to an actual human being at the IRS?

Ugh, dealing with the IRS is THE WORST. I had a similar issue last year. Took me weeks to finally get someone on the phone. Keep trying and document everything. Good luck!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The IRS should do better.

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

•Can confirm, I used it too. Got through in like 2 hours instead of days of trying

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documentation related to the notice 2. Write a detailed letter explaining why you disagree 3. Include copies (not originals) of supporting documents 4. Mail everything certified with return receipt 5. Be patient - it can take 6-8 weeks for a response In the meantime, keep trying to call. Early mornings tend to have shorter wait times. If you can't get through, consider hiring a tax professional to handle it for you. They often have better luck reaching the IRS. Don't ignore the notice, even if you think it's wrong. The IRS can be relentless if they think you owe money. Good luck!

Plot twist: what if the notice is actually correct and you do owe money? 🤔 Might be worth double-checking your records before going through all the trouble of disputing it.

•Trust me, I've triple-checked everything. This is definitely their mistake.
