IRS agent ghosted me on hold after EIN letter mix-up - Help!
So I finally got through to the IRS about my EIN letter mix-up. The agent asked for my social and then put me on hold. But here's the kicker - they never came back! Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm so frustrated. Any advice on how to actually get this resolved?

Ugh, classic IRS move. They did the same thing to me last month. I swear they put us on hold hoping we'll just give up and go away. đ

I feel your pain, OP. The IRS is a nightmare to deal with. Have you tried calling first thing in the morning? I've had better luck getting through that way.

Hey, I actually found a way to get someone on the phone without the endless hold times. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's the link: https://www.claimyr.com

â˘I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after being on hold for hours and it actually came through. Worth every penny imo

Have you tried reaching out to your local Taxpayer Advocate Service? They can sometimes help with these issues and act as a liaison between you and the IRS.

â˘Sure! You can find your local office here: https://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/contact-us/ They're usually pretty helpful with navigating IRS issues.

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been dealing with the IRS for years, and here's what I've learned: 1. Document everything. Every call, every letter, every interaction. This will be crucial if you need to escalate. 2. Be persistent. Call back multiple times if needed. Sometimes you get lucky with a helpful agent. 3. Use the Taxpayer Advocate Service as a last resort. They can be really helpful for complex cases. 4. Check if you can resolve this online through the IRS website. Sometimes that's faster than calling. 5. If you're still stuck, consider hiring a tax professional. They often have direct lines to the IRS. Remember, patience is key. The IRS is understaffed and overworked, but keep at it and you'll get it resolved eventually.

â˘IRS be like: "Your call is very important to us. So important that we'll never actually answer it." đ¤Ł

Have you tried sending a certified letter? Sometimes that gets their attention better than phone calls.
