IRS Transcript Shows Code 570 "Action Pending" on $5,768 Refund Despite Being Told No Verification Needed - WMR Still at One Bar
I filed my taxes early February and was expecting a refund of $5,768. When I called the IRS to check on status, they said I don't need to verify anything, but my Where's My Refund tool is still stuck on one bar. Just checked my transcript today (03/03/2025) and I see code 570 "Additional account action pending" dated 03/10/2025. I've attached a copy of my Account Transcript from the IRS that I pulled today. It shows my request date was 02-27-2025 with a response date of 02-27-2025. According to the transcript, my account balance shows -$5,768.00 as of Mar. 17, 2025, with $0.00 in accrued interest and $0.00 in accrued penalty. My transcript shows I filed as Head of Household with 3 exemptions. My adjusted gross income was $10,304.00 with $0.00 taxable income and $0.00 tax per return. There's no self-employment tax listed. The return due date is Apr. 15, 2025, and the processing date shows as Mar. 10, 2025. The transactions section is what has me worried: CODE - EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION - CYCLE - DATE - AMOUNT 150 - [Tax return filed] - 20250805 - 03-10-2025 - $0.00 806 - W-2 or 1099 withholding - 04-15-2025 - -$467.00 766 - Credit to your account - 04-15-2025 - -$1,171.00 (child tax credit) 768 - Earned income credit - 04-15-2025 - -$4,130.00 570 - Additional account action pending - 03-10-2025 - $0.00 I have my withholding of $467, child tax credit of $1,171, and earned income credit of $4,130. My return was received and processed according to the transcript, but now I'm worried about this 570 code with "Additional account action pending" dated 03/10/2025. Has anyone dealt with this? Should I be concerned even though they said no verification needed when I called? This refund is important for me and my three dependents. The transcript says "This Product Contains Sensitive Taxpayer Data" at the top and bottom, so I'm guessing it's legitimate. I'm just confused about why there's a hold if they told me nothing else was needed.

The 570 code means there's a hold on your account that's preventing your refund from being released. It's not necessarily bad - could be automatic verification, random review, or a minor discrepancy they're working on. The date shown (03/10/2025) is when the IRS expects to complete their review. Typically, if there's nothing you need to provide, you'll see a 571 code (resolved) appear in the next update, followed by an 846 (refund issued) code. Since you already called and they said no verification needed, it sounds like they're just processing something internally. The WMR tool often lags behind what's actually happening. The transcript is more accurate, so keep checking it daily. If you don't see movement after March 10th, call back. Sometimes these holds clear automatically without any action from you.

Thank you for explaining! So the March 10th date means that's when I should see movement? My bills are due soon and I was counting on this refund 😩

Probably! March 10th is when the IRS expects to finish reviewing your return. Then it takes a few days to issue the refund (846 code) and a few more days for it to hit your bank account. So realistically, if everything goes smoothly, you might see the money by mid-March.

I had this same situation last year. The 570 cleared by itself exactly on the date shown, and I got my refund about 5 days later. Just hang tight!

I was in a similar situation last month with the same codes. After trying to decode all this IRS jargon myself, I finally used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It explained exactly what was happening with my return and when to expect my refund. Saved me hours of googling and stressing. The tool predicted my refund would hit March 2nd and it arrived March 3rd. It's insanely good! I use it every week now to check for updates. https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It's way more than just reading the transcript. You upload ur transcript and it explains all the codes, tells you exact dates for next steps, predicts refund timing and even explains what might be causing delays. It can also analyze multiple tax years if ur dealing with past issues. Total gamechanger for me!

Just tried it and WOW. Everyone dealing with the IRS needs to know about this. It explained my 570 code was due to a math verification that would resolve automatically - something 40 mins of googling couldn't tell me. Even showed me exactly when my refund would hit my account. 10/10 recommend!!

I was dealing with the same 570 code last month and couldn't get through on the IRS phone lines. Tried for DAYS. Finally used the Claimyr calling app and got connected to an IRS agent who explained that my return was just going through routine verification and would be released soon. Talking to an actual person cleared everything up in minutes - they could see notes in my file that the website couldn't show me. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent and totally worth it to finally get my questions answered. Check out claimyr.com

does that actually work? the IRS phone line is impossible

Yes! It's the real deal. I was skeptical at first but I had already wasted hours trying to get through myself. Claimyr basically navigates the phone tree for you and holds your place in line, then calls you when an agent is about to pick up. Got me through in about 45 minutes when I had been trying for days on my own.

It's completely safe - they don't ask for any personal info or tax details. They just help get you through the phone system. I was desperate after trying for days and it actually worked. My refund showed up a week after I talked to the agent!

The 570 code is frustrating but normal. I got mine cleared after 3 weeks without doing anything. The IRS is super backed up this year because of the stupid child tax credit changes. Just wait til the date on your transcript passes before panicking.

When I called the IRS about my 570 code, they told me the same thing - no verification needed. But then my refund sat for 6 more weeks! 🤬 Call them again and specifically ask if there's a department reviewing your return and why. Sometimes the first level reps don't see the full picture.

Omg 6 weeks?? I can't wait that long! Did they give you any explanation for why it took so long?

Eventually found out they were verifying my EIC eligibility but didn't need docs from me. The system was just backed up. But the regular IRS reps couldn't see that at first. You might be in the same boat with your EIC claim.

The IRS is a joke this year. I had the same code and called 23 times before getting through only to be told "just wait" 🙄 Then magically my refund appeared a week later with no explanation. I think they're just randomly flagging returns to buy time because they're so backlogged.

Have you checked your account transcript instead of just the tax return transcript? Sometimes that shows different info. Also check if your refund amount changed - if they adjusted something on your return, that can cause the 570 code.

This is my account transcript - I'm worried because I claimed Earned Income Credit and I've heard they scrutinize those returns more closely? But when I called they said everything looked fine?

Ah that explains it. EIC claims get extra verification automatically. The good news is if they didn't ask you for documents, it's probably just going through the system. The 570 should clear on its own.

tbh the IRS told me the same thing but I was still stuck for a month. try calling the tax advocate service at 877-777-4778. they got my 570 cleared in 3 days after i explained i was facing financial hardship. worth a shot!

The tax advocate service is swamped tho. They told me they're only taking cases where you're facing eviction or utility shutoff. Are you actually in that situation?

I was behind on rent and facing late fees, so yeah. They won't help for just wanting your refund faster, has to be actual hardship.

If you look at cycle codes on your transcript, you can tell what day of the week the IRS updates your account. If your cycle code ends in 01, 02, or 03, they update on Wednesday nights. If it ends in 04 or 05, they update Thursday/Friday. So check your transcript the morning after your update day - that's when you'll see any changes.

Where do I find the cycle code? Is that the 20250805 number?

Yes! So yours ends in 05 which means you're on the Thursday/Friday update schedule. Check your transcript Friday mornings for any changes.

I was losing my freaking mind trying to understand my transcript with that same 570 code last month. My CPA charges $50 just to look at it! Ended up using taxr.ai after seeing it mentioned here and it was SO HELPFUL. It translated all the codes and predicted my refund date within 2 days of when it actually arrived. It showed me my return was just going through standard EIC verification. Wayyyy better than the useless WMR tool! https://taxr.ai

Yes but it was worth every penny for the peace of mind. Instead of refreshing wmr 50 times a day and stressing, I got actual answers. Saved me from taking a day off work to sit on hold with the IRS.

The real question is - why does your transcript show processing date of Mar 10 but it says the cycle date is already completed on Mar 10? That's weird. Usually those dates don't match. Might be why you're stuck. 🤔

call the IRS!!!!! WMR and transcripts aren't telling you the full story. my 570 was because they needed to manually review something but didn't bother to tell me. after calling they fixed it on the spot and my refund came a week later. the squeaky wheel gets the grease with the IRS lol

I had this EXACT situation. It resolved itself right on the date shown on the transcript. The 570 code disappeared, 846 code appeared, and money hit my account 5 days later. Don't stress too much (I know that's easier said than done when you need the $$

the IRS put a 570 on mine and told me "nothing needed" then sent me a letter 2 weeks later asking for verification docs 🤡 don't trust what they say on the phone honestly

Yea but it took about 8 weeks total. Keep checking your mail just in case. Once I sent in the docs they released it pretty quick tho

looks like standard EIC verification to me. they have to verify all earned income credit claims. that's probably why the 570 is there. should resolve automatically by the date on the transcript as long as your income info matches what employers reported.

Man I was in this same situation last year with a 570 code. Ended up using claimyr.com to reach an IRS agent after trying for days with no luck. Found out they needed to verify something simple that I could confirm right on the phone. Refund released two days later. Sometimes just talking to a human can fix these holds way faster than waiting for the system.

can't remember exactly but whatever it was, it was completely worth it to finally get my $7k refund unstuck. I had bills coming due and couldn't wait another month for the IRS to get around to my return.
