IRS Notification: "Verify Your Tax Return Information Now" Message After February 5th Filing - Refund On Hold
I switched from H&R Block to a professional tax preparer this year. Filed and got approved February 5th, but my transcripts haven't updated. Just logged into my IRS account and saw 2 unread notifications. When I logged in, I saw the following sections on my account: MAKE A PAYMENT View Payment Options View Payment Activity Notifications 2 Unread Refund Status Now Available Check your refund status for three most recent tax years. Verify Your Tax Return Information Now We need more information about your 2024 tax return before it can be processed. Turn On Email Notifications Sign up to receive email notifications when the IRS issues new notices for your account. One notification specifically says "We need more information about your 2024 tax return before it can be processed." The other notification shows "Refund Status Now Available" where you can check refund status for three most recent tax years. I have one dependent. Anyone else experiencing this? I also see options to "Make a Payment," "View Payment Options," and "View Payment Activity" but that shouldn't apply since I'm expecting a refund, not owing anything. There's also an option to "Turn On Email Notifications" to receive emails when the IRS issues new notices, which I might do given this situation since I'd like to know immediately when there are updates. Has anyone else received this "Verify Your Tax Return Information Now" message? I'm concerned because my return was supposed to be approved, and now they're asking for more info. What kind of verification will they require? Do I need to call them, or will they send a letter? This is page 1 of 2 on my account, so maybe there's more information on the next screen?

The IRS notification screen shows you have 2 unread notifications, with the key one requesting verification of your 2024 tax return information. This verification request is typical when switching tax preparers, as the change from H&R Block to a professional preparer has triggered the IRS's fraud prevention system. The screen displays several important elements: - A verification request for your 2024 return - Access to refund status for the past three tax years - Payment-related options (which you can ignore since you're expecting a refund) - An option to enable email notifications The "Verify Your Tax Return Information Now" link is crucial - you should click this immediately to prevent processing delays. The verification system is a security measure to protect taxpayers from identity theft and fraudulent returns, especially when filing patterns change. The presence of email notification signup suggests you might want to enable this feature to stay informed of any future IRS communications, particularly during this verification period.

Usually 2-3 weeks after verification, but could be faster. Keep checking your transcripts!

Hey! Instead of playing the waiting game, you should try taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Its only $1 and WAY better than trying to piece everything together yourself. https://taxr.ai

Did you claim EIC with your dependent? That could also trigger extra verification steps
