IRS Phone Verification: How to get verified without the letter?
Been trying to verify my identity with the IRS but they keep telling me I need to wait for a letter. I see other people getting verified over the phone without waiting. What exactly are yall saying to get them to verify you without the letter? Getting desperate here.

Tax specialist here - the IRS reps are trained to verify your identity if you can provide specific information. You'll need your prior year AGI, filing status, address on last return, and any income documents like W2s or 1099s. However, some reps strictly follow protocol requiring the letter. Try calling early morning when agents are fresher and more willing to help.
