IRS Identity Verification Letter: Still Waiting - Anyone Got Theirs?
I got selected for identity verification and the IRS said they sent a letter 5071C 3 weeks ago. Still nothing in my mailbox. Starting to get worried since my return is on hold until I verify. Anyone else dealing with this or know how long it usually takes?

The verification letters typically arrive within 7-10 business days. If it's been 3 weeks, you should call the Identity Verification hotline at 800-830-5084. Sometimes these letters get lost in the mail, and you can request them to resend it. Don't wait too long because your return will stay frozen until you verify.

Instead of waiting around, you should try taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on with your verification status and when to expect movement. Its only $1 and saved me hours of stress. https://taxr.ai

Pro tip: Check your informed delivery from USPS if you have it setup. You can see if its coming before it hits your mailbox!

Had the same issue last year - definitely call that number Saanvi mentioned! Also check if you moved recently or if your address with the IRS matches what's on your last return. They're super picky about addresses and even small differences can cause delays. You can also try creating an account on IRS.gov to see if there are any messages in your online account about the verification.
