IRS Direct Deposit rejected - How long for paper check after bank return?
My tax refund was sent to my old closed bank account. The bank rejected it back to the IRS. Anyone know how long it takes for them to mail out a paper check? Already waited 3 months for the refund and now this happens smh.

When a bank rejects a direct deposit, the IRS typically takes 2-3 weeks to process and mail out a paper check to the address on your return. Make sure your address is current with USPS because that's where they'll send it.

Same thing happened to me last year! The waiting is the worst part. Just to add to what others said - you can also call the IRS refund hotline at 1-800-829-1954 to check the status once it's been about 10 business days since the bank rejection. They'll be able to tell you if they've processed it for a paper check yet. Hang in there! 🤞
