Direct Deposit rejected by bank - How long until IRS mails paper check?
My tax refund direct deposit just got rejected and sent back to the IRS. Anyone know how long I'll have to wait for them to mail me a paper check instead? Really frustrating since I triple checked my bank info when filing.

Tax pro here. When a direct deposit gets rejected, the IRS typically takes 2-4 weeks to process and mail a paper check to your address on file. Make sure your address is current with USPS and IRS to avoid further delays.

Hey guys, instead of playing the waiting game, I highly recommend using taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund, including estimated paper check dates. It costs $4.99 but saved me weeks of anxiety. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! It uses AI to read all those confusing transcript codes and explains everything in plain English. Even shows you if there are any issues that might delay your check

IMPORTANT: Call your bank first! Sometimes they can still accept the deposit if you contact them quick enough!

I went through this exact same situation last year. The 2-4 week timeline is pretty accurate, but here's what helped me: I called the IRS customer service line (1-800-829-1040) about 10 days after my deposit was rejected and they were able to confirm that my paper check had been processed and give me a rough mailing date. Also double-check that your address on file with the IRS matches exactly what you have with USPS - even small differences can cause delays. Hang in there, the check will come!

•Thanks for the tip about calling after 10 days! @a22bcf61cd02 Did they give you a tracking number or anything when you called, or just a rough estimate? I'm definitely going to try this if I don't hear anything soon.
