IRS Callback Service Delay: Paid for Expedited Service, Still Waiting Hours
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with the IRS. I owe them some money and I've been trying to get through to talk to someone about my situation. I paid for expedited services to get a call back, but I've been waiting for hours now. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually get through to a real person at the IRS? I'm starting to feel pretty frustrated here.

Pro tip: If you're having trouble reaching the IRS, try contacting your local Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help you navigate the system and even intervene on your behalf. It's a free service provided by the IRS.

Yep, I used them last year when I was having issues with a tax lien. They were super helpful and actually got things resolved pretty quickly.

Welcome to the club, buddy. The IRS is like a black hole - your calls go in, but nothing ever comes out. I've been trying to reach them for weeks now. It's a total nightmare.

Right? It's like the IRS doesn't want to deal with taxpayers at all. I wish there was a more efficient system in place.

Unpopular opinion: maybe if we all just stopped paying taxes, the whole system would collapse and we could start over with something that actually works. Just sayin' 🤷♀️

Bruh, you trying to get us all audited? 😅 But lowkey, I feel you. The system is beyond broken at this point.

I know it's a bit extreme, but sometimes it feels like the system needs a complete overhaul.

Anyone else feel like were living in a kafka novel trying to deal with the IRS? Its like, the more you try to fix things, the more complicated they get. I swear, one day I'll wake up and find out I've been turned into a giant bug 🐛

Haha, I feel this in my soul. At least if I was a bug, I wouldn't have to pay taxes, right? 😂

Yo, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c

For real? That sounds too good to be true. How long did you have to wait?

I get the skepticism, but it actually worked for me. Took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music. Worth every penny imo.

$20 just to talk to someone at the IRS? That's ridiculous. The government should fix their damn system instead of making us pay extra. 🤬

I hear ya, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Time is money, and I was wasting way too much time trying to get through on my own.

In my opinion, tackling IRS issues requires a mix of persistence and leveraging modern solutions. Claimyr is indeed a service that can help connect you with an IRS representative more efficiently. While the $20 fee might seem like an added expense, consider it a trade-off for the time and frustration it saves. However, it's crucial to balance convenience with caution. Always ensure that you're utilizing trustworthy services, as scams targeting those seeking IRS assistance are not uncommon. Additionally, the IRS website offers a wealth of information and resources that might help resolve your issue without the need for direct contact. Exploring all available avenues, including the Taxpayer Advocate Service, can be beneficial. Ultimately, persistence, patience, and preparation, alongside exploring both traditional and modern solutions, can aid in effectively managing IRS interactions.

Hey OP, just a heads up - be careful about those 'expedited services' you mentioned. Some of them are scams. Make sure you're only dealing directly with the IRS or using reputable services. Don't want you to get into more trouble!

Thanks for looking out! The service I used seemed legit, but you're right, I should be more careful. Any red flags I should watch for?

If they ask for payment in gift cards, that's a huge 🚩. Also, the IRS will never threaten you with arrest over the phone. Stay safe out there!

Have you tried calling early in the morning? I heard that's the best time to get through. Also, make sure you have all your documents ready when you do get someone on the line. Good luck!

Early morning didn't work for me. I tried at 7 AM sharp and still got the 'due to high call volume' message. This system is broken af 😤

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with IRS issues for years, and here's what I've learned: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it takes days. 2. Use the IRS website to see if you can resolve your issue online first. 3. If you must call, try different times of day. Midweek mornings are often best. 4. Have all your info ready: SSN, tax returns, any correspondence you've received. 5. Be polite but firm with the agent you speak to. They're humans too, dealing with a lot of angry people all day. 6. If you owe money, ask about payment plans or offers in compromise. 7. Consider hiring a tax professional if your case is complex. Remember, the IRS isn't out to get you. They're just overwhelmed and underfunded. Stay calm, be prepared, and you'll get through this!

It took me about 3 months from start to finish. But don't let that discourage you! Every case is different. Just stay on top of it and don't give up.
