IRS Agent removed freeze code today - Will refund come as check or direct deposit after hold removal?
Just got off the phone with IRS. Last week they said my return was adjusted and to wait 2 weeks for the hold removal. Called again today and the agent removed the freeze while I was on the phone! They said I'll get a check in mail but I definitely selected direct deposit when I filed. Anyone know if it'll come as paper check or direct deposit? Getting mixed signals here

If you originally selected direct deposit, it should go to your bank account. However, if they've already processed it as a paper check during the adjustment, it will come as a check. You can check your transcript to see which code is showing - 846 DD or 846 CHECK.

Wait 2 check your bank account first before looking for mail. Most times it hits DD even when they say check

Sometimes when they do manual adjustments it defaults to check even if u picked DD. But ive seen it go both ways tbh
