IRS Adjustment Letter Received - Do I Still Need to Wait 16 Weeks for Refund?

Got my adjustment letter in the mail yesterday saying they fixed some math errors on my return. The letter says to wait up to 16 weeks from when I first filed to get my refund. I filed 12 weeks ago, so does this mean I need to wait another 16 weeks or just the remaining 4 weeks from my original filing date?

Tax professional here. The 16-week timeframe starts from your original filing date, not from when you received the adjustment letter. You should only need to wait the remaining 4 weeks, assuming there aren't any other issues with your return.

If it's been over 16 weeks, you should call the IRS or check your transcript for any holds or additional reviews.
