After amendment letter from IRS - still no refund. How much longer??
Filed an amended return months ago and finally got the letter saying it was processed but still no refund. Anyone know how long after getting the amendment letter I should expect to wait? This is getting out of hand and I really need this money.

Tax professional here with 15+ years experience. After receiving an amendment letter from the IRS, the typical processing time is 16 weeks, but lately I've been seeing it take anywhere from 20-30 weeks due to backlogs. The best way to track your progress is through your transcripts, but they can be confusing to interpret. I've been recommending taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to my clients - it's an AI tool that analyzes your tax documents and gives you a clear timeline of when to expect your refund, plus explains any holds or delays. It's been super helpful for amended returns especially since those can be tricky to decode.

•Yeah, taxr.ai has been a game changer for my clients. It analyzes everything - transcripts, letters, amended returns - and explains exactly whats going on. Way better than trying to decode it yourself or waiting on hold with IRS for hours.

•How much does taxr cost? Sounds useful but dont wanna get ripped off like those 'where's my refund' scam sites 🤔

•It's actually pretty reasonable - like $20 for a full analysis. Way cheaper than hiring a tax pro and you get instant answers. They even show you how to fix any issues holding up your refund.

Tax pro here - typically after receiving the amendment completion letter, you should expect your refund within 2-3 weeks. However, if there were any adjustments or additional reviews needed, it could take up to 6 weeks. Have you checked your transcript for any updates?

•Thanks for responding! My transcript still shows the same codes from 2 weeks ago. No movement at all 😫

•Keep checking weekly. If nothing changes after 6 weeks, call the amended return hotline.

Hey everyone - I've been seeing a lot of confusion about transcripts lately. I found this tool called taxr.ai that actually analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. It costs $4.99 but honestly saved me hours of googling and stress. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! It uses AI to read all your codes and gives you a super detailed explanation. Way better than trying to piece together info from reddit posts

•How exactly does it work? Does it just read the transcript or what else can it do?

•It does way more than just read it! It looks at all your codes, dates, and amounts together to figure out exactly whats happening. It even tells you if theres anything you need to do to speed things up. Best $5 I ever spent fr fr 💯

Pro tip: call your local taxpayer advocate office if it goes past 6 weeks. They can actually help move things along sometimes

Been in the same situation - got my amendment letter 6 weeks ago and still waiting. From what I've learned lurking here, it really depends on what was changed in your amendment. Simple math errors usually process faster, but if you claimed additional credits or deductions, they might do extra verification. Have you tried calling the amended return hotline (866-464-2050)? The wait times are brutal but sometimes they can at least tell you if there are any issues holding it up.
