IRS Website Shows "Adjustment Requested" for Tax Year 2024 But I Never Requested One - Yesterday Balance Was $0

My IRS account is showing a random adjustment that I never requested. The balance was $0 just a couple days ago, but now when I log in, I see something strange. My return was just accepted last week, but now when I go to the "Details By Year" section, for Tax Year 2024 it says "INFO" with "Income Tax" listed below it, and then "Your Information Is Not Available at This Time" followed by "If you requested an adjustment to your account your information will not be available until that transaction is complete." The weird thing is, I never requested any adjustment! Tax years 2023, 2022, and 2021 all show "$0.00" as expected, but 2024 has this strange message. I checked this at 12:43 today on the sa.www4.irs.gov site under the "Frequently Asked Questions About Balances" section. Anyone else experiencing this or know what this could mean? I'm worried because the balance was definitely $0 a couple days ago, and I have no idea why it would say I requested an adjustment when I absolutely did not request anything.

Tax professional here - this is actually pretty normal during processing. The IRS systems update account balances multiple times during processing as they verify different aspects of your return. Give it about 2-3 weeks for everything to settle.

Every case is different. If it's been that long, you might want to look deeper into your transcript

Hey everyone! I was in the same boat last month. The best way to actually understand whats going on is using taxr.ai - its only $1 and it analyzes your transcript way better than trying to piece together clues from reddit posts lol. Check it out: https://taxr.ai

interesting... how exactly does it work? does it just read the transcript or what?

It uses AI to analyze everything in your transcript and tells you exactly whats happening and when to expect your refund. Way better than playing detective!
