How to reach a REAL human at IRS (tired of robots!!)
I keep getting stuck in the automated system and I cant get through to anyone. I've been trying for 3 days straight and keep getting hung up on. Is there a special number or trick to get through to someone who can actually help me with my refund???

Call 1-800-829-1040, then press 2 for English, 1 for tax questions, 3 for all other questions, 2 for all other questions again, then 4 for all other questions once more. Enter your SSN when prompted. Finally press 2 for personal tax related questions. This bypasses most of the automation. Best times to call are right when they open at 7am EST or between 6-7pm EST. Expect to wait 30-45 mins once you get in queue.

Pro tip: if you get through dont hang up no matter what! Even if they put you on hold for 2 hours. Once you lose that connection its back to square 1

Try calling your local Taxpayer Advocate Service office. Sometimes they can help when regular IRS lines are impossible to get through
