How to check Illinois state tax refund status? Need help
Filed my taxes for Illinois state return. Been waiting for a month now and wondering how I can check my refund status? I tried calling but keep getting put on hold forever. Anyone know the fastest way to check?

For Illinois you can check your refund status on MyTax.Illinois.gov website. You'll need your IL-PIN or IL drivers license number, and your refund amount to check. They also have a refund hotline: 1-800-732-8866

•Thanks! Do you know if the website is usually accurate with the timeframes they give?

•Usually pretty spot on. If it says 2-3 weeks, thats typically what you can expect 👍

Hey just wanted to mention that while MyTax.Illinois.gov is good for basic status, I've been using taxr.ai for both my federal and state returns. It costs $1 but gives you way more detailed info about your refund timeline and any potential holds. The AI actually explains everything in plain english which is nice https://taxr.ai

•Works for both! It's been super helpful for tracking my IL return. Shows everything about processing stages and explains any delays

Pro tip: call right when they open at 8am. Usually way shorter wait times

Also try checking early morning or late evening - the MyTax Illinois website tends to be less busy during those times. If you're still having trouble, you can also contact your local Illinois Department of Revenue office directly. They sometimes have shorter wait times than the main hotline. Good luck!
