How soon after DDD on transcript does SBTPG show funded?

Got my DDD on my transcript this morning for 4/3. Last year my SBTPG status updated to funded about 2 days before my actual deposit hit. Anyone know how long it typically takes for SBTPG to update after the transcript shows a DDD? Working Uber/Lyft this month to cover bills but really counting on this refund to catch up on some bigger expenses.

I'm actually going through this right now too! From what I've seen, SBTPG usually updates within 24-48 hours after your transcript shows the DDD? Mine updated this morning with a DDD of 4/5, but SBTPG still shows nothing. Anyone else experiencing delays with SBTPG this year?

It's not exactly a delay. SBTPG can only show funded once they actually receive the money from the IRS. Sometimes there's a funny timing thing where your transcript shows a DDD but the IRS hasn't actually sent the funds yet. Had me worried last year too. 😅

Last year my transcript showed a DDD on a Wednesday, SBTPG updated to funded Friday afternoon, and I had my deposit Monday morning! I remember because I was checking like every hour that weekend. My bank usually posts deposits around 3am, and I woke up specifically to check. I was so nervous because I had fees taken out of my refund and heard those sometimes take longer.

Great information here! To summarize what I've observed: • SBTPG typically updates 1-2 days after DDD appears • Banks then process the deposit within 24 hours after SBTPG shows funded • Weekend timing can affect both SBTPG updates and bank processing • Direct deposits without SBTPG involvement are usually faster

Have you noticed if there's any difference in timing if you filed with a major tax preparer versus a smaller one? I'm wondering if the big companies get priority processing somehow.

Oh my gosh, I've been wondering the same thing! I got my DDD yesterday for 4/4 and I'm checking SBTPG literally every hour. 😩 Does anyone know if SBTPG updates on weekends too? I'm so anxious about this because I've got a car payment due next week that I really need this money for.

Do you know if your bank processes deposits on weekends? That might affect when you actually see the money even after SBTPG shows funded.

The whole tax refund process is like watching a package being delivered across the country. You can see it at each checkpoint, but sometimes it sits at a facility for days before moving again. SBTPG is just one more checkpoint that adds time to the journey.

From my data tracking last year, SBTPG took exactly 36 hours to update to funded after my transcript showed a DDD. Then my bank took another 19 hours to post the deposit. This was for a Tuesday DDD, with SBTPG updating Wednesday evening and funds hitting my account early Friday.

Have you checked if SBTPG shows any pending fees being taken out? Sometimes that can give you a clue that they're processing your refund even before the status updates, wouldn't you agree?

I've been through this process multiple times and can explain exactly what happens step-by-step: 1. IRS approves your refund and assigns a DDD on your transcript 2. IRS initiates the transfer to SBTPG (usually 1-2 days before your DDD) 3. SBTPG receives funds and shows 'funded' status 4. SBTPG deducts any tax prep fees you owed 5. SBTPG sends remaining amount to your bank The whole process typically takes 2-3 days from DDD to deposit. I started using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript this year - it actually predicted my SBTPG funding date based on my transcript codes and was spot on. Helped me understand exactly where my money was in the process instead of constantly refreshing SBTPG's site.

Just a word of caution from someone who's been through this: According to IRS Publication 1219 (section 4.3), the DDD on your transcript is only an estimated date. I've seen SBTPG take up to 5 business days after the DDD to show funded, especially during peak tax season. Don't make any financial commitments based on that DDD until you actually see the money in your account. I learned this the hard way last year when I ended up with late fees on bills I thought I'd be able to pay.

If you're really anxious about tracking down your refund, I'd recommend checking with the IRS directly. When my SBTPG status wasn't updating last year despite having a DDD, I tried calling the IRS for days with no luck. Eventually used https://claimyr.com and got through to an agent in about 15 minutes who confirmed my refund had actually been sent to SBTPG already. Turns out SBTPG's system just hadn't updated yet. The agent was able to tell me exactly when the funds were released, which gave me peace of mind instead of constantly checking online resources.

Is it really worth paying for a service just to get through to the IRS? Seems like you're just giving up part of your refund when you could just wait a few more days for free.

I'm curious - when you called through Claimyr, did the IRS agent actually have information about when SBTPG would process your refund, or just confirmation that the IRS had sent it? I'm wondering how much visibility the IRS has into the third-party processors.

SBTPG usually updates quickly. Often within 24 hours of DDD. They process weekdays. Not weekends. Your bank matters too. Some post instantly. Others take 1-2 days. Check your bank's policy on ACH deposits. That's the real bottleneck.

You might want to try contacting your tax preparer directly if SBTPG doesn't update soon. Sometimes, they can provide more information about the status of your refund through their professional portal, which might show different details than what we can see on the consumer-facing website.

I had a DDD of March 14th this year. My SBTPG updated to funded on March 13th at approximately 2:30 PM Eastern. The money was in my bank account on March 14th at 3:15 AM. My bank is Capital One, which is known to post deposits as soon as they receive them, even outside of normal banking hours. If your bank only processes deposits during business hours, you might see an additional delay of up to 24 hours after SBTPG shows funded.

Has anyone noticed if filing jointly vs. single affects how quickly SBTPG processes the refund? My transcript showed a DDD of March 27th, but SBTPG didn't update until March 30th. Wondering if joint returns take longer.

Last year I was in exactly the same boat as you. Got my DDD on April 5th, SBTPG updated to funded on April 7th around noon, and the money hit my account on April 8th in the morning. The year before was much faster though - only took about 24 hours from DDD to SBTPG showing funded. I think it really depends on their volume at the time your refund processes. This time of year they're probably swamped with the April rush.
