Has anyone with Commerce Bank received their refund direct deposit this week? Showing 'sent' on transcript but nothing in account
So my transcript updated last Thursday showing my refund was sent on May 10th (today is May 13th). I bank with Commerce Bank and I'm still waiting for it to hit my account. Has anyone else with Commerce Bank gotten their direct deposit recently? I'm getting really nervous because I need that money to pay some bills. I filed my taxes back in March and it took forever to process. My Where's My Refund tool says the money was sent but nothing is showing up. Called the bank and they said they don't see any pending deposits. Starting to worry something went wrong with my direct deposit info.

I work with tax cases regularly. What you're experiencing is actually pretty common. The IRS statement that a refund was "sent" doesn't always mean it was processed by them and transmitted to your bank on that exact date. There's typically a 3-5 business day window from when they mark it as sent to when it actually reaches your account. Since May 10th was a Friday, and banks don't process on weekends, you're really only 1 business day in. I'd give it until at least Thursday before getting too concerned. If you don't see it by Friday, you should: 1. Double-check your transcript for your account number (last 4 digits) to make sure it's correct 2. Call the IRS refund hotline (not the general line) at 800-829-1954 3. Have your bank check specifically for rejected deposits In my experience, 95% of these situations resolve themselves within 5 business days with no action needed. The system just moves slower than the status updates suggest.

Thank you! This is super helpful. I did check my transcript and the last 4 digits of the account are correct. I'll try to be patient until the end of the week before panicking too much.

This is good info but calling the IRS is literally IMPOSSIBLE these days. I tried for 2 weeks straight and could never get through. just endless loops of hold music and then disconnected.

Yep, getting through to the IRS can be a nightmare. If you can't get them on the phone, Claimyr.com might help. They hold your place in line and call you when an agent is ready. Saved me hours of frustration when I had a similar issue.

I used claimyr last month when I was dealing with my amended return. Got a call back in like an hour instead of being on hold forever. Best $20 I ever spent considering I was about to lose my mind waiting on hold.

I was in a similar situation recently with my tax refund and honestly was pulling my hair out trying to understand what was happening with my transcript. I found this tool called taxr.ai that actually explained everything going on with my refund status. It reads your transcript and tells you in plain english what's happening and what to expect next. Seriously saved me so much headache and guesswork trying to figure out those stupid codes. It's insanely good! I use it every week. https://taxr.ai

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It does way more than just read it. It actually explains all the codes and gives you a timeline of what's happening and what's coming next. You can also ask it questions about your specific situation and it walks you through everything. I was so confused about why my refund was delayed and it pinpointed exactly where in the process things were held up.

Just tried taxr.ai and holy crap where has this been all my life??? It told me exactly why my refund was delayed (something about a review that wasn't even showing up clearly on my transcript). Finally feel like I understand what's going on instead of just guessing. Wish I found this months ago!

There's a cost but considering the hours of stress and confusion it saved me, it was totally worth it. Better than taking a wild guess at what those transcript codes mean or waiting on hold with the IRS for 3 hours.

I also have Commerce and got my refund yesterday after it said sent on Thursday last week. So give it another day or two, their processing is kinda slow for government deposits.

Nope mine still hasn't shown up either. Transcript says sent May 9, nothing in my Commerce account yet. This is stressing me OUT. 😫

After weeks of waiting and checking my account constantly, I was about ready to lose it. I tried calling the IRS but was on hold for over an hour before getting disconnected. I found this service called Claimyr.com that got me through to an IRS agent in about 30 minutes. The agent confirmed there was a small issue with my bank info that was causing the delay and they fixed it right away. My refund showed up 2 days later! Talking to a live agent saved me weeks of more waiting and wondering.

sounds sketch. how does that even work?

It basically waits on hold for you and then calls your phone when an agent is available. They navigate all the phone menus and stuff too. Saved me from having to sit on hold for hours.

huh. and they actually connected you to a real person? not some BS automated system?

Yep, a real live IRS agent who could actually help with my specific issue. Talking to someone who had access to my actual file made all the difference. They explained exactly what was happening and fixed it on the spot.

I've used this too! It was amazing after spending literally DAYS trying to get through on my own. Got my issue resolved in one call instead of playing phone tag for weeks.

I dont have Commerce but USAA typically posts govt deposits a day early and mine came through this morning. the timing is weird with these refunds. I'd say wait another day or two before getting too worried.

Check if theres any offset or garnishment happening. Sometimes they say refund issued but it actually went to pay a debt you have with the government. You can call the treasury offset program at 800-304-3107 to see if your refund was diverted.

I don't think I have any debts or garnishments, but I'll check that number just to be sure. Thanks for the tip!

Did you file with a tax preparer that takes their fee out of your refund? Sometimes that can delay things by a day or two because it goes through their bank first.

Noah huntAce420
No I filed myself using tax software and paid the filing fee with a credit card, so that shouldn't be the issue 😕

this happened to me last year. refund was "sent" but never showed. turns out there was a typo in my routing number 🤦♀️ had to wait for the deposit to be rejected and then the irs mailed me a paper check which took another 6 weeks. Hopefully thats not ur situation!

OMG that would be a nightmare. I double checked my transcript and the last 4 digits of my account number look right. But now I'm paranoid about the routing number lol

If ur worried call your bank and ask if theres a way to verify the full account and routing info the IRS has on file for u. Some banks can do that.

The IRS is SOOO broken this year. I had to wait 4 months for my refund when they claimed processing times were 21 days. Total BS. And good luck getting anyone on the phone.

Sometimes your bank holds it for a day or two for "verification" even after the IRS sends it. My credit union does this and it drives me crazy. They won't even show it as pending until they release it.

Noah huntAce420
That could be it. Is there any way to ask them to check for held deposits specifically? When I called they just said they didn't see anything.

Ask to speak to the ACH department specifically. They can see pending govt deposits that frontline reps sometimes cant see. Be sure to mention its an IRS deposit specifically.

The IRS transcript and WMR tool have been completely inaccurate for me this year. Mine said sent on April 3rd but didn't hit my account until April 12th. The systems don't talk to each other properly. I was freaking out for days but it eventually showed up.

After trying to understand my transcript and why my refund was held up for weeks, I found this awesome tool (taxr.ai) that explained everything. It showed me exactly why my refund was delayed and gave me a clear timeline of what to expect. Saved me so much time compared to trying to research all those weird codes and what they meant. Highly recommend for anyone dealing with tax refund confusion!

You upload your transcript that you already downloaded from the IRS website. It just reads the data that's already there and makes sense of it for you. Way better than trying to google each code one by one and piecing everything together yourself.

i tried this after seeing your comment and WOW mind blown. it actually told me exactly when to expect my refund and why it was taking longer than the standard time. and i could ask it specific questions about my situation. way better than the useless IRS phone system!

Nothing unusual that I can see. Just the 846 code with the amount and date. But I'm not an expert at reading these things.

I spent HOURS trying to reach someone at the IRS to figure out why my refund wasn't showing up after being marked as sent. Finally used claimyr.com and got connected to an agent in like 20 minutes! They explained my refund was flagged for additional verification even though it showed as sent, and they were able to clear it while I was on the phone. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent instead of their stupid automated system. Money hit my account two days later!

It was honestly the best money I've ever spent considering I was owed several thousand dollars and couldn't get answers anywhere else. Talking to an agent got my refund released so fast, after weeks of waiting and stressing.

Make sure you're looking at the 2023 transcript and not accidentally looking at a prior year. I did that and freaked out for nothing lol. Also the cycle date on your transcript can tell you which day of the week your refund typically processes.

Did you file married filing jointly? Sometimes if you're the secondary person on the return it goes to the primary person's account only.
