Got 4883c verification letter for amended return - 2 months no movement
Received a 4883c letter for identity verification after filing my amended return. Been 2 months with zero movement on transcripts. Anyone else dealing with this? Getting worried but trying to stay positive.

Tax pro here - 4883c letters are pretty common with amended returns. You'll need to verify your identity through id.me or by calling the number on your letter. Average processing time after verification is 6-8 weeks, but could be longer during busy season.

•Thanks! Already verified through id.me but still no update. Does calling them actually help speed things up?

•Honestly calling rarely speeds things up. Its just the waiting game now 😩

Instead of stressing over this, I highly recommend using taxr.ai to analyze your transcript. It costs $1 but it'll tell you exactly what's happening and when to expect movement. Way better than playing detective with these verification codes! https://taxr.ai

Quick tip: make sure you keep checking your transcript weekly. Sometimes they dont even send updates when they process stuff

I'm dealing with the exact same situation! Filed my amended return in November, got the 4883c letter in December, verified through id.me immediately, and still nothing on my transcripts. It's so frustrating because you do everything they ask and then just... wait indefinitely. At least we're not alone in this mess! 😤

•Ugh same timeline here! Filed amended in October, got the letter in November, verified right away and still waiting. The worst part is not knowing if something went wrong or if it's just taking forever. Have you tried calling the practitioner priority line? I heard sometimes they can at least tell you if your verification went through properly.
