Finally got through to IRS about delayed refund - make sure you've completed ALL verification steps!
I finally got through to the IRS about my delayed tax refund and found out we hadn't completed all parts of the verification request. We had no idea until we spoke to an agent. If you're waiting on your refund, make sure you've done everything they need!

Ugh, the IRS and their endless paperwork! 🙄 How long did it take you to get through to an actual human?

•It took forever! I was on hold for hours before I found a better way.

•Hours?! That's insane. There's gotta be a better system for this stuff.

Same boat here. Been waiting on my refund for months. What kind of verification did they need?

•They needed some additional info about my income and deductions. Apparently, there was a form I missed.

•Oof, thanks for the heads up. I'll double-check my stuff. The IRS website is about as clear as mud 🤦♂️

Pro tip: I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Jc9x-gysK0

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks to skip the hold? Sign me up! How long did it take?

•It took about an hour, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music. Totally worth it IMO.

•100% legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Just sharing what worked for me 🤷♂️

This whole system is broken. Why can't they just send an email if there's a problem with our returns? It's 2023, for crying out loud!

Here's what I've learned after dealing with the IRS for years: • Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them • Use certified mail for important documents • Check your tax transcript online regularly • Don't assume no news is good news • If you owe money, set up a payment plan ASAP • Consider using a tax professional if your situation is complex Remember, the IRS is understaffed and overworked. It's frustrating, but patience is key. And always, always double-check your forms before submitting!

Has anyone tried contacting their local congressperson? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up with the IRS.

•I did this last year! It actually worked. Took about 3 weeks, but better than months of silence.

•Really? Might have to give that a shot. This wait is killing me.

Plot twist: the IRS is just a bunch of hamsters running on wheels, processing our taxes 🐹🐹🐹

•LOL if only. At least hamsters are cute. The IRS... not so much 😂

Quick question - did they give you any timeframe for when you'll actually get your refund after sorting out the verification?

•They said it could take up to 9 weeks 😩 But at least the ball is rolling now!

•9 weeks?! Jeez, they really know how to test our patience. Hang in there!

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in IRSology just to file taxes correctly? 🎓🤔
