Finally Got Through to IRS - Filed 3/8, Accepted Same Day, But Still Stuck on TT152

Just got off the phone with the IRS after a 25 min wait. Filed my taxes on March 8th and they were accepted the same day. Had one bar on WMR initially but now no bars, just Tax Topic 152. Anyone know what this means or how much longer I should expect to wait? Getting a bit nervous since I was counting on this refund.

Tax Topic 152 simply means you're due a refund, assuming everything processes normally. The disappearing bar is actually a common occurrence during peak processing season and doesn't indicate a problem. The IRS is still working through a backlog from this filing season, and many returns filed in early-to-mid March are still being processed. What did the IRS agent tell you when you spoke with them?

The agent just said my return is still being processed and that I should allow up to 21 days from filing date. But it's already been 23 days and still nothing! They said there were no flags or issues showing up on their end, just that it's "in process" whatever that means. 🙄

I had the exact same situation last month - filed 2/15, accepted same day, one bar then nothing but TT152 for weeks. I was freaking out until I used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It showed me exactly where my return was in the process and explained all the codes. Turns out I was just in normal processing queue and nothing was wrong. The tool predicted my DDD would be the following Wednesday, and it was spot on! Saved me a ton of anxiety.

How does this taxr thing actually work? I'm always skeptical of these third-party services. What can it tell you that the IRS website can't?

It basically translates all the IRS jargon and codes into plain English. The IRS transcript has all these cryptic codes and dates that most people don't understand. Taxr explains what each code means specifically for your situation and gives you a timeline prediction based on your specific filing details. It's like having a tax pro look at your transcript but automated.

This happened to me too. Filed 3/2, accepted same day, had one bar for about a week, then it disappeared and showed TT152. I finally got my refund exactly 31 days after filing. The bars on WMR are notoriously unreliable - they're more of a general indicator than anything precise. Have you checked your transcript online? That usually gives more detailed info than WMR.

Did you claim any credits like Earned Income Credit or Child Tax Credit? Those automatically take longer to process because of extra verification steps. Also, the 21-day timeframe is just a guideline, not a guarantee. The IRS is still dealing with staffing shortages and outdated systems, so many returns are taking 30+ days even without any issues.

I was in this exact situation last month and got stuck in an endless loop of calling the IRS. Spent 3 days trying to get through with no luck. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent was able to see that my return was just in the normal processing queue but was able to expedite it since I was experiencing financial hardship. Got my refund a week later. Definitely worth it if you need to actually speak to someone at the IRS without the endless redial game.

Wait, they can expedite refunds if you're having financial hardship? I didn't know that was an option. How exactly does this Claimyr service work? I've been trying to get through to the IRS for days.

Yes, in some cases they can expedite if you're facing eviction, utility shutoff, or other serious financial issues. Claimyr basically navigates the IRS phone system for you and holds your place in line. When they reach an agent, they call you to connect. Saved me literally days of frustration. The IRS phone system is absolutely brutal this time of year.
