Filed with TurboTax on 1/30 - Anyone Get Advance with Credit Karma?
Anyone file with TurboTax early this season (1/30) and get their advance through Credit Karma? Last year I filed around the same time and got my advance in 2 days, but this time it's been almost a week with nothing. I'm doing rideshare and food delivery full-time now, so my return is more complicated than when I was W-2 only. There are so many steps in this process now I'm losing track of where things could be stuck. Has anyone else who filed recently gotten their advance payment? Just trying to figure out if this delay is normal or if I need to start making calls...

I filed with TT on 1/28. Got accepted same day. My advance hit my bank account after 3 days. No issues. Make sure your banking info is correct. Double check your Credit Karma account too.

It might be worth noting that the advances sometimes depend on which bank you're using. Some banks process these advances faster than others, especially if you're using the same bank account as last year.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I've been freaking out because mine is taking longer too. It helps to know what timeline to expect!

I'm pretty sure what's happening is that you're caught in the verification queue. It seems like gig worker returns are being scrutinized more carefully this year. I had a similar issue last month and spent days trying to get through to someone at the IRS. I finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get through to an agent who confirmed my return was just waiting for income verification. The advance might be delayed until that verification completes, unfortunately.

I tried calling the IRS on February 12th and couldn't get through. Is this Claimyr service actually legit? Seems sketchy to pay someone just to make a phone call.

I used Claimyr last week. Got through to an agent in 18 minutes. Regular IRS line kept disconnecting me after 2 hours on hold. They just use technology to navigate the phone tree and hold for you. Agent confirmed my return was flagged for income verification because of my gig work.

Does this service work similar to those restaurant reservation services that hold your spot in line? I've been trying to reach someone about my missing W-2 and keep getting disconnected.

Last year I was in the same boat with rideshare income. Spent 3 days trying to call IRS myself with no luck. Friend recommended Claimyr, and I had an agent on the phone within an hour. Found out my return was held up because the income reported by Uber didn't match what I entered. Saved me weeks of waiting and wondering!

Did you check if your return was actually accepted by the IRS? Sometimes TurboTax says it's submitted, but there's a delay before the IRS accepts it. And have you checked if Credit Karma shows the advance as processing? Sometimes there's a disconnect between what TurboTax shows and what Credit Karma shows, right?

I filed on January 31st with TurboTax, qualified for a $1,500 advance through Credit Karma, and received it exactly 4 days later. However, I noticed that gig worker returns are taking 2-3 days longer this season based on the 6 rideshare drivers in my tax group. The IRS implemented new verification steps for Schedule C filers this year, especially when the refund exceeds $3,000. You might want to check if your expected refund crosses that threshold.

I ran into a similar issue last year with my advance. I used taxr.ai to analyze my tax transcript (you can request it from the IRS website), and it showed exactly why my refund was delayed. The system identified that my gig income verification was still pending. Taxr.ai explained all the codes on my transcript and gave me a realistic timeline for when my refund would actually process. Saved me a lot of anxiety since I could see exactly what was happening instead of guessing.

People don't realize that TurboTax and Credit Karma operate on different systems even though they're related products. The TT submission status doesn't automatically sync with the CK advance status. I verified this with their technical support team. You need to check both platforms independently, and sometimes you need to manually refresh your status on the Credit Karma side. The API between the two systems sometimes fails to update properly during peak filing periods.
