Filed with TurboTax 2/07/24 - Still Stuck on One Bar with No DDD

I filed with TurboTax 2/07/24 and my taxes got accepted on 2/15/24 and I'm still on one bar... My husband's military buddy filed a week after us and already got his refund last Friday. Is there anything I need to do? I don't even have a date yet. Not trying to share too many details, but we didn't claim anything unusual compared to previous years. Just wondering if this is normal or if something's wrong.

Have you checked your tax transcript on the IRS website? The WMR tool (Where's My Refund) isn't always the most accurate indicator of your actual processing status. What credits did you claim on your return? Did you receive any notices or letters from the IRS since filing?

Great point about checking transcripts. I filed on February 3rd and my WMR showed one bar until March 18th, but my transcript updated on March 12th with a DDD. The transcript is definitely more reliable.

Same issue here. One bar forever. Transcript showed everything. WMR updated last. So frustrating.

This is exactly what happened to me! I needed my refund ASAP for car repairs. Step 1: Check transcript. Step 2: Look for cycle code. Step 3: Find codes 846/570/971. These tell you everything! WMR is always behind by 5-7 days in my experience.

I was probably in a somewhat similar situation last month. Filed on 1/29, accepted 1/30, but WMR stayed on one bar for what seemed like forever. I think I might have been in the PATH Act delay without realizing it. I eventually tried using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it basically explained every code and what was happening behind the scenes. It was actually kind of helpful because it predicted my deposit date almost perfectly, which was a relief since I was starting to get a bit concerned about possible delays.

Did you claim Earned Income Credit (EIC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC)? If so, your return falls under PATH Act verification protocols, which legally prevents the IRS from issuing refunds with these credits before mid-February. This frustrating delay happens regardless of how early you file! Have you accessed your Account Transcript to check for processing codes?

The IRS Processing Pipeline is experiencing significant variability this season. I had clients file on January 29th who received their Direct Deposit within 14 days, while others who filed February 1st are still in Refund Pending status. The Return Processing Differential (RPD) can be concerning, especially when you see others receiving refunds who filed after you. I'm a bit worried about the increased verification protocols this year causing these inconsistencies.

Omg I went through this exact same situation last year! I spent literally 3 days trying to call the IRS - kept getting that automated message saying they were too busy. Finally I used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through to a real person in like 30 minutes! Turns out there was a simple verification issue with my W-2 that was holding everything up. The agent fixed it while I was on the phone and I had my refund a week later. Seriously saved my sanity!

I would exercise caution when using third-party services to contact the IRS. Per IRS Publication 5136, taxpayers should utilize official channels whenever possible. That said, if you've made multiple unsuccessful attempts through the designated taxpayer assistance line, alternative contact methods may be considered as a last resort.

• I was skeptical at first too • But after 9 calls and 4 hours on hold • Finally used Claimyr • Got through in 22 minutes • Agent found a mismatch in my address • Fixed it immediately • DDD appeared 3 days later Sometimes you just need to talk to a human!

Does Claimyr work for amended returns too? My 1040X has been sitting for months w/ no updates and I can't get thru to anyone. Thx for sharing ur experience!

The IRS processing system is like a highway during rush hour - some cars zip through the express lane while others get stuck in traffic for no apparent reason. The current backlog situation means many returns are being processed out of sequence. Think of it like airport security - sometimes the person who arrived after you gets through faster because they were randomly selected for expedited screening. Best approach is to check your transcript weekly rather than daily - watching water doesn't make it boil any faster.

I had the exact same experience this year! Filed February 5th, accepted February 6th, and then... nothing. Just that one bar on WMR for weeks. Isn't it frustrating when you see others who filed after you already receiving their refunds? I finally got my deposit date yesterday - a full 46 days after filing. The IRS seems to be processing returns in batches rather than first-come-first-served this year. Your patience will be rewarded, I promise.

OMG this is so frustrating!!! 😡 I'm in the EXACT same boat! Filed 2/09, accepted 2/15, and STILL stuck on one bar! My coworker filed AFTER me and got her refund TWO WEEKS AGO! I'm worried this means there's a problem with my return or that I'm being audited or something. Has anyone had this happen and then suddenly got their refund without any issues? I'm starting to panic because I need this money for my daughter's braces appointment next month!
