Filed Jan 27 - SBTPG Can't Find My Info - Path Act Delay?
I filed and had my return accepted on January 27th, and now I'm just sitting in PATH Act processing. But shouldn't SBTPG at least be able to locate my information by now? Has anyone else experienced this disconnect between IRS acceptance and SBTPG recognition? I triple-checked all my banking details before submitting, so I'm wondering if this is normal or if there's something wrong with my paperwork that I need to amend?

It's actually pretty common for SBTPG to not show your information right away, especially if you're claiming refundable credits that fall under PATH Act verification. In my experience, SBTPG typically doesn't show any information until the IRS actually approves your refund and begins the disbursement process. Since you're currently under PATH Act review, which generally doesn't complete until at least mid-February, SBTPG likely hasn't received any confirmation from the IRS that funds will be coming their way.

I'm in the same boat as OP. Filed January 29th, accepted same day, but SBTPG shows nothing. Does this mean we're just stuck waiting until the PATH hold is lifted? My transcript hasn't updated at all either.

Thanks for explaining this! I was starting to think my tax preparer put in the wrong routing number or something. *nervous laughter* Guess I'll just keep refreshing my transcript every 3 hours like a totally normal person...

I appreciate this insight. Is this different from previous years? Because I swear last year SBTPG showed my info before the PATH Act hold was lifted, but maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

Ur prob fine tbh. SBTPG won't show anything until IRS actually approves ur refund. I'm in same boat (filed 1/25) and nothing on SBTPG yet. PATH act means we gotta wait til at least mid-Feb b4 anything happens. Sucks when u need $ now but nothing we can do abt it.

This is SO frustrating but completely normal! PATH Act holds mean NOTHING happens with your refund until mid-February at the earliest. SBTPG won't have any information because the IRS hasn't released your funds yet. If you're really concerned and want definitive answers instead of stressing, I'd recommend using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to get through to an IRS agent. I was going CRAZY with worry last year and spent 4 hours on hold before giving up. Used Claimyr and got through in about 15 minutes! The agent confirmed everything was fine and gave me an actual timeline instead of me just refreshing SBTPG every 5 minutes.

I'm not entirely sure about calling services like this... Couldn't you just keep trying the IRS number yourself? I wonder if they actually do anything special or just automate the calling process.

How quickly did you get your refund after speaking with the agent? I'm supposed to close on a house next month and NEED this refund by then!

I can confirm this works. According to Internal Revenue Manual 21.1.3.3, IRS agents can provide cycle codes and processing status that aren't visible on the public-facing tools. I called using Claimyr last week and found out my return was just waiting for a standard review that completes on 2/28.

SBTPG doesn't show your information until the IRS approves your refund. Period. If you're under PATH Act review, your refund isn't approved yet. The IRS legally cannot issue refunds for returns with certain credits until February 15. Check your transcript instead of SBTPG - it's more accurate and will update first.

Just to clarify a bit, the PATH Act specifically delays refunds that include Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). The IRS uses this time to verify income claims and prevent fraud. Most people affected by PATH will see transcript updates around February 22-28, with deposits arriving approximately 5-7 days after that.

Think of it like a relay race - the IRS has to run their leg before they can hand the baton to SBTPG. Right now, the IRS runner is still going through mandatory verification checks and hasn't even reached SBTPG yet to pass them anything!

Have you checked your IRS transcript? That's where the real information is. SBTPG is just a middleman that won't show anything until the IRS actually releases your refund. With PATH Act delays, refunds with certain credits won't be released until after February 15th at the earliest. Why would SBTPG have your information when the IRS hasn't even finished processing your return? The sequence is: IRS accepts return → IRS processes return → IRS approves refund → IRS sends refund → SBTPG receives info → SBTPG shows your info. You're only at step 2.

This is a classic Path Act timing issue. SBTPG utilizes a Refund Transfer Protocol that only activates once the IRS has approved your refund for disbursement. Under Internal Revenue Code Section 6402(m), refunds containing EITC or ACTC are subject to mandatory hold until February 15th. Your Designated Financial Institution (SBTPG) won't show any pending deposits until the Refund Authorization Code is transmitted from Treasury, which cannot happen during the verification period.

There are several reasons SBTPG can't find your info: • PATH Act delays mean IRS hasn't released funds yet • SBTPG only receives data after IRS approval • System synchronization between IRS and SBTPG takes 24-48 hours • Bank holiday delays can impact processing timeframes I wouldn't trust SBTPG's system for accurate status updates. Their database only updates after receiving confirmation from Treasury Direct, and they're notoriously slow with their status portal. Checking WMR or your transcript directly will give you more accurate information.

I filed on January 26th and was in the exact same situation. My SBTPG showed nothing until February 23rd, and then suddenly updated with all my information. Got my refund on February 25th. The PATH Act delay is real - they legally cannot process certain refunds until after February 15th, and then there's still processing time after that date.
