Transcript Still Blank After 2 Months - SBTPG Shows Funded But No Federal Refund
This is getting ridiculous compared to previous years. I filed January 31st, accepted same day, and I'm on PATH (claimed EIC). My transcript is STILL blank and shows no record that I even filed! Meanwhile, WMR just says it's still being processed. Here's where it gets weird - SBTPG is showing 'funded' and I've already received my state refund with their fees taken out. So does SBTPG actually have my federal return and they're just not releasing it yet? I've seen people who filed WEEKS after me already get their refunds. Last year after my divorce, I had a similar issue but at least my transcript showed something by now. I know my rights as a taxpayer and I deserve some answers here.

Have you checked the IRS2Go app as well as the website? Sometimes they show different statuses. According to the IRS Operations page (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations), they're still working through a backlog from last year. Can anyone confirm if SBTPG showing 'funded' means they actually have your federal refund?

OMG I'm so confused by all this too!! 😫 If SBTPG shows funded, shouldn't that mean they have your money?? I'm stressing because I need my refund for car repairs and I don't understand why they would hold it if they have it!

I was in this exact situation last tax season. SBTPG showed funded but only for my state refund. The 'funded' status can be misleading because it might only refer to the state portion. I had to wait another 3 weeks after my state refund for my federal to come through, even though the status showed funded the whole time.

The terminology used by SBTPG is somewhat confusing. 'Funded' typically means they've received money from a tax agency, but it doesn't specify whether it's state or federal. In many cases, state refunds process faster than federal, especially for returns with tax credits under PATH Act review.

Did you receive your state refund with fees already deducted? That would confirm SBTPG has processed at least part of your return, right?

You're probably dealing with two separate issues here. First, the blank transcript is somewhat normal, especially for PATH Act returns that claimed EIC. They're generally held until mid-February for processing, and then can take an additional 3-4 weeks, possibly longer. Second, SBTPG might be showing 'funded' only for your state refund, which would explain why you received that portion but not federal. It's possible, though not certain, that your federal return is still being processed by the IRS and hasn't been sent to SBTPG yet.

This is definitely a PATH Act delay. IRS is backlogged. Transcript systems are separate from processing. SBTPG funded status is for state only. Need to talk to IRS directly. Used Claimyr last week. Got through in 18 minutes. Agent confirmed my return was in processing. No issues found. Just backed up. Try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kiP6q8DX5c for direct link. Better than waiting another month wondering.

Did you have to provide personal information to this service? I'm always nervous about sharing my tax details with third-party sites. How does it actually work?

I believe I can clarify how Claimyr works. It doesn't require any tax information from you. The service simply navigates the IRS phone system and calls you back when it reaches a human agent. At that point, you speak directly with the IRS, not with Claimyr. It's essentially just saving you from the hold time.

I used it last year when my refund was delayed for 3 months. Got through to someone in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. The agent told me there was a simple verification flag on my account that no one had reviewed yet. Fixed it while I was on the phone and I got my refund the next week. Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone.

I'm not convinced SBTPG has your federal refund. Their system might be showing funded only for the state portion. The IRS and SBTPG systems don't always communicate clearly. You should probably contact SBTPG directly to confirm what exactly is funded. This needs to be resolved quickly if they're holding your money.

Don't panic just yet! 😅 The SBTPG 'funded' status is almost certainly just for your state refund. I've seen this happen many times, especially with PATH Act returns. The fact that you've received your state refund with fees taken out is actually normal - they take their full fee from whichever refund arrives first (usually state), and then you get your federal refund in full when it eventually processes. It's frustrating, but probably not a case of them holding your money hostage.

Couldn't this also be related to the verification procedures the IRS implements for certain returns? I believe they sometimes hold refunds with certain credits for additional review, which might explain why the transcript shows no record yet.

This matches exactly what happened with my refund last year. State came at 22 days, federal took exactly 47 days. SBTPG showed 'funded' the whole time. Can confirm they take fees from whichever comes first.

FYI - PATH Act returns are super delayed this yr. IRS is swamped w/ verification. My transcript was blank for 58 days (!!!) after filing on 1/29. WMR just said processing the whole time. Then suddenly everything updated at once and DD hit my acct 4 days later. SBTPG prob only has ur state $. They take fees from first refund received. Hang tight - fed is still at IRS. Blank transcript = still in initial processing queue.

Thanks for sharing your timeline! That's actually really helpful to know. Did you do anything special to get it moving or it just suddenly updated on its own?

I had this exact issue last year. Blank transcript for weeks, SBTPG showed funded, and I'd received my state refund. Back in 2022, I panicked and called the IRS every day for a week. This year, I was patient and my transcript suddenly updated on March 23rd after filing January 25th. My federal refund hit my account on March 29th. The IRS is just incredibly slow with PATH Act returns, especially if you claimed the Earned Income Credit like I did.

Did your Where's My Refund status change at all during that waiting period, or did it stay on the first bar until everything updated at once?

Did you end up having to provide any additional verification or did it just process on its own eventually??
