Refund Accepted & Processing Since 2/13 But Transcript Shows Nothing Filed for 2024

My refund status says they accepted and processing since 2-13 on the IRS website…. when I go look at the transcripts it's saying for 2024 that I have not turned anything in and then I go check that other site SBTPG and my number is not pulling up on that either…. My friend did theirs on the exact same day as I did, and they are at least coming up on the SBTPG page… anybody have any idea what could be going on or what I should do? Should I call the IRS directly? How long should I wait before taking action? My husband is deploying soon and I need to make sure we have this squared away before he leaves.

This is a fairly common situation during the peak filing season. When WMR shows "accepted and processing" but your transcript shows N/A, it typically means your return is in the early stages of processing. Unlike your friend's return, yours might be taking a different path through the IRS systems. I've seen similar cases where the transcript didn't update for 3-4 weeks while WMR showed processing. SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) only shows information once the IRS has approved your refund and sent the disbursement information - they won't have anything until later in the process.

This is concerning for a few reasons: • The return was filed over 6 weeks ago • SBTPG should at least show pending status by now • Different processing paths usually indicate potential review Is there anything in particular that would flag this return for additional scrutiny? Credits claimed? Schedule C? First time filing jointly?

I had this exact thing happen to me last year! My return was accepted on February 8th but my transcript stayed blank until March 18th. I called the IRS and they said it was just in the processing queue and hadn't been "assigned" yet. Is that what you mean by different paths through the system? Like some returns get fast-tracked and others just sit in a digital pile waiting to be looked at?

You need to understand what's actually happening with your return. Check out https://taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript (once it appears) and tells you exactly what's happening with your return. I used it when my transcript finally updated but had all these codes I didn't understand. It explained everything and predicted my refund date correctly. Are you claiming any credits? Did you use a tax preparer? Those factors can affect processing time.

Is this like trying to read tea leaves before the tea is even in the cup? OP said their transcript shows nothing for 2024 yet, so what would this service even analyze? It's like trying to diagnose a car problem when the car hasn't even arrived at the shop. I'd be hesitant to use any service until there's actually something to look at.

I had exactly the same issue this year. Filed on February 15th, WMR showed processing, but transcript was N/A for 37 days exactly. Then suddenly my transcript updated and I received my $4,782 refund exactly 3 days later. The SBTPG didn't show my info until the day before the deposit hit my account. It's frustrating but sometimes it just takes time for all systems to sync up.

Did you have to do anything to get it moving? Or did it just suddenly update on its own? I'm in a similar situation and wondering if I should be proactive or just wait it out.

When your transcript finally updated, did it show any TC 570/971 combination codes or was it a clean processing path? Sometimes the delay indicates a manual review process that's happening behind the scenes before the transcript even populates.

Did your WMR bars disappear at any point? Mine vanished and now just says "still processing" which feels like my return got sent to the IRS equivalent of the Bermuda Triangle 😂. Wondering if that happened to you too before the magical transcript update!

I would suggest waiting a bit longer before getting too concerned. The IRS is still working through a backlog from previous years, and sometimes there's a disconnect between their different systems. Your return is likely in the queue but hasn't been fully processed yet. If you filed with a military status or certain credits, this could potentially take longer. It might be prudent to wait until around the 8-week mark from your filing date before taking additional steps, unless your husband's deployment timeline requires more urgent action.

According to IRS Publication 5192, normal processing time is 21 days, but numerous factors can extend this timeline. If you need immediate assistance, I recommend using Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to connect with an IRS agent directly. Under IRM 21.4.1.3, agents can verify if your return is in the system even if transcripts aren't showing it yet. With your husband's deployment coming up, you qualify for expedited assistance under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act provisions, but you'll need to speak directly with an agent to invoke this.

Had this happen last yr. WMR said processing for like 6 wks but transcript was blank. Called IRS and they said my return was flagged for ID verification bc we moved to a diff state. Never got any letter tho. Had to do the ID verify thing online and then got my $ about 2 wks later. Might wanna check if ur return is stuck in ID verify limbo. Happens a lot w/ military fams who move around.

I'm sort of in a similar situation, but I think it might be because I filed with a tax preparer who uses SBTPG for refund transfers. It seems like sometimes this adds a bit of extra time to the whole process. In my case, I filed around January 29th and didn't see anything on SBTPG until maybe the first week of March? And then my refund came about 3 days after that. Hopefully yours is just moving through the system and will update soon.

FORGET the transcript for now and try this instead - call the IRS automated refund hotline at 1-800-829-1954! It sometimes has different/updated info compared to the WMR tool online. I was FURIOUS when nothing was showing up on my transcript for weeks but the phone system told me my refund was scheduled! Worth a shot since it takes 2 minutes and doesn't require waiting for an agent. Military families sometimes get routed differently in their systems too!
