Filed 2/6 - Transcript Updated Last Week But No 846 Code - Anyone Else Waiting?

I filed February 6th and my transcript updated last Friday, but there's no 846 code showing a direct deposit date. I checked again this week and still nothing. Is this normal? I'm getting worried now. I don't have any 570 code (hold), just credit codes. Does that mean it's still processing? How long should I expect to wait at this point? Has anyone who filed around the same time also not received their deposit date yet? I'm a bit overwhelmed with the process as this is my first time filing in the US system. What should I be looking for in my transcript to know everything is proceeding normally?

Your timeline is actually within NORMAL PROCESSING PARAMETERS. Transcript updates with credit codes but no 846 indicates you're in Cycle Phase 2, which precedes DDD assignment. Current processing backlog metrics show 21-35 day timelines for non-complex returns. CRITICAL: Without a 570 code, you're not in review status, just standard queue positioning. Watch for transcript updates specifically on Wednesday/Thursday night cycles when most DDDs are assigned.

I would generally agree with this assessment, though in my experience, the processing time might possibly be a bit longer currently. I filed on February 3rd and only just received my 846 code yesterday, so that's roughly 7 weeks of waiting. No holds or reviews on my account either, just seemingly random delays that the IRS representative couldn't really explain when I finally reached someone.

Thanks for this detailed explanation! I've been checking constantly and driving myself crazy. Some key points I've learned: ā€¢ Wednesday/Thursday night updates are critical to watch ā€¢ No 570 is actually a good sign ā€¢ Credit codes mean they've processed the basics I'll try to be more patient but the waiting is so stressful when you need the money!

This is way more informative than what I got when I called the IRS hotline! They just told me to keep waiting without explaining these cycle phases. Your explanation about the credit codes vs. the 846 matches exactly what happened with my brother's return last year - took about 4 weeks after credits appeared before he got his DDD.

I've been seeing this pattern a lot lately with international filers. The credit codes without an 846 typically means your return is in the final verification stage. What's concerning is the extended timeline between transcript updates - this could indicate identity verification requirements that haven't triggered a formal notice yet. I'd recommend using https://taxr.ai to analyze your transcript codes in detail. It helped me understand that my "TC 290" with no adjustment amount was actually a positive sign, not a problem. The tool explains exactly what each code means for your specific situation and provides estimated timeline projections based on current IRS processing patterns.

Is taxr.ai actually reliable though? šŸ¤” I've tried so many tax "tools" that just spit out generic information you could find on the IRS website. How does it actually know what's happening with your specific return rather than just making educated guesses based on common patterns?

I was extremely skeptical at first too, but taxr.ai actually works by following these steps: 1. It analyzes your specific transcript codes in sequence 2. It identifies processing patterns unique to your tax situation 3. It compares your timeline against current processing data 4. It explains what each code ACTUALLY means in your context The difference is night and day compared to just Googling code definitions. It saved me weeks of anxiety when my return was delayed last year.

I'm a bit hesitant to try new services... does it require you to upload your entire transcript or just the codes? And does it give you an estimated deposit date based on your specific situation, or is it more about explaining what's already happened?

I've been tracking IRS processing patterns for the past three tax seasons, and what you're describing is actually quite common for early February filers this year. Last year, I waited 47 days with the exact same pattern - credit codes but no 846. When I couldn't get answers, I tried Claimyr (https://claimyr.com/?ref=reddit) to connect with an actual IRS agent. Got through in about 22 minutes instead of spending hours on hold. The agent confirmed my return was just in normal processing and explained that batches of returns filed in early February were taking longer to process this year. Three days after that call, my 846 code appeared. Sometimes you just need to speak directly with someone who can see what's happening behind the scenes.

I've heard mixed reviews about these IRS call services. How do you know the agent you spoke with actually provided accurate information? The IRS phone representatives often don't have complete access to processing details beyond what's already in your transcript.

The key difference with Claimyr is that it connects you to the ACTUAL IRS agents - the same ones you'd reach if you managed to get through on your own after hours of trying. The service just handles the hold time and connects you when an agent is available. The information comes directly from the IRS, not from Claimyr itself. In my experience, the agents can see internal processing notes that don't appear on the public-facing transcript.

I've been trying to call the IRS for three days now with no luck. Do they transfer you to different departments if needed, or just the main line? I'm wondering if they could help with my specific situation where my transcript shows credits but no DDD yet.

Have you verified whether you claimed any credits that would trigger additional review under IRC Ā§6402(e)? Per IRS Publication 1345, certain credit combinations can trigger Extended Verification Protocol even without a 570 code appearing. This is especially relevant for international filers where cross-border income verification might be occurring. When did your "Where's My Refund" status last update in relation to your transcript changes?

Are you seeing any TC 766 codes on your transcript? Have you checked whether your cycle code ends in 01, 02, 05 or another number? The cycle code can tell you a lot about your processing timeline - have you considered that your return might be in the weekly rather than daily processing batch? And if you have any foreign income forms attached to your return, have you verified those are correctly processed?

I just want to clarify something important here - having credit codes without a 570 code is actually a GOOD sign! I was so relieved when I learned this. It means your return is processing normally without any holds. The IRS is just moving slower than usual this year, especially with returns filed in early February. Many of us are seeing 6-8 week processing times even for simple returns. My transcript updated last week after 7 weeks of waiting with no explanation for the delay.
