Filed 2022 Return in March: Transcript Shows Refund Issued 12/13/24, Amended Return I Didn't File, and Reduced EIC of $8,095

I filed my 2022 taxes in March and still haven't received my refund. My transcript hasn't updated since May and just shows processing. I've called multiple times but can't get through to anyone. I'm due a pretty big refund and really need this money. Looking at my transcript, I can see: 768 Earned income credit 04-16-2024 -$4,095.00 971 Amended tax return or claim 05-11-2024 $0.00 forwarded for processing 977 Amended return filed 05-11-2024 $0.00 43277-534-68440-4 767 Reduced or removed credit to your 04-16-2024 $9,095.00 account 290 Additional tax assessed 20244804 12-17-2024 $0.00 71254-731-05739-4 971 Notice issued 12-17-2024 $0.00 811 Removed refund freeze 02-09-2024 $0.00 846 Refund issued 12-14-2024 $6,888.58 776 Interest credited to your account 12-24-2024 -$393.58 This Product Contains Sensitive Taxpayer Data I'm really confused because I see "Refund issued" for December, but it's only May now. And it shows earned income credit but then also "reduced or removed credit." There's also something about an amended return being filed in May, but I didn't file an amended return! And what's this about a refund freeze that was removed back in February? I'm supposed to be getting around $7,000 back, and I really need this money for bills and catching up on rent. Does anyone know how long this could take or what I should do next? Is there a way to actually get through to a person at the IRS? Should I be concerned about the "reduced or removed credit" line? I'm so frustrated and confused.

Tax advocate here. Without looking at your specific transcript, it's hard to say exactly what's causing the delay. There could be several reasons: identity verification, income verification, or the return might have been flagged for review. Your best bet is to keep trying to reach the IRS or request assistance from the Taxpayer Advocate Service.

Call 1-877-777-4778, but be prepared for long wait times. Best time to call is early morning.

100% works! It analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening and when to expect your refund. Way better than guessing

How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It uses AI to analyze every code and date on your transcript and gives you a detailed breakdown. It even suggests solutions if there are problems. Best $5 I ever spent fr fr πŸ’―
