Filed 2022 Return in March: $7,018 Refund Stuck With 570 Code and Unexplained Amended Return Status

I filed my 2022 taxes in March last year and still nothing. It's been so frustrating! The where's my refund tool just says processing and my transcripts finally updated but it looks like there's something weird going on. My account transcript shows: ACCOUNT BALANCE: -$8,018.00 ACCRUED INTEREST: $0.00 (AS OF: Nov. 26, 2024) ACCRUED PENALTY: $0.00 (AS OF: Nov. 26, 2024) ACCOUNT BALANCE PLUS ACCRUALS: -$8,018.00 My return information shows: EXEMPTIONS: 02 FILING STATUS: Head of Household ADJUSTED GROSS INCOME: $24,232.00 TAXABLE INCOME: $3,432.00 TAX PER RETURN: $0.00 The transaction history is what's confusing me: TRANSACTIONS CODE EXPLANATION OF TRANSACTION CYCLE DATE AMOUNT 150 Tax return filed 20240705 03-04-2024 $0.00 32211-431-59319-4 806 W-2 or 1099 withholding 04-16-2024 -$5,553.00 768 Earned income credit 04-17-2024 -$4,729.00 570 Additional account action pending 03-04-2024 $0.00 971 Amended tax return or claim 04-30-2024 $0.00 forwarded for processing 977 Amended return filed 04-30-2024 $0.00 43277-524-00869-4 807 Reduced or removed W-2 or 1099 04-16-2024 $2,164.00 withholding 290 Additional tax assessed 20243305 09-02-2024 $0.00 07254-621-05334-4 I'm really confused because I see I should have a refund of around $8,018 but there's that code 570 "Additional account action pending" and I also see codes about an amended return (971 and 977) dated April 30th - but I never filed an amended return! And then there's code 807 showing they reduced my withholding by $2,164! Called the IRS multiple times but keep getting the run around about delays and to just keep waiting. It seems like something is seriously wrong with my return processing. Anyone else dealing with this? Starting to feel hopeless about ever seeing my refund. It's been over a year and a half now and I really need this money! Has anyone had experience with these codes, especially the 570 and the amended return codes when you didn't actually amend anything? Should I try to get a Tax Advocate involved?

Tax advocate here - there's likely a review flag on your return. The IRS is still catching up on millions of returns. Without seeing your transcript its hard to pinpoint the exact holdup, but common issues include income verification, identity verification, or missing documents.

Call 877-777-4778 early morning (like 7am) for best chance. But heads up, we're overwhelmed rn and might not be able to help unless you're facing financial hardship

Hey, have you tried using taxr.ai? It's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and when you'll likely get paid. Saved me weeks of guessing and stressing. It costs $4.99 but totally worth it https://taxr.ai

Is this legit? Seems interesting but kinda skeptical about putting my info in some random site πŸ€”

100% legit! It uses AI to read your transcript and breaks everything down in plain English. Shows all the important dates and codes

Just tried it and OMG where has this been all my life?! It literally told me exactly why my refund was delayed (missing W2) and what to do about it. Best $5 I've spent dealing with this mess πŸ’―

its probably bc of the earned income credit if u claimed it. they scrutinize those returns extra hard

The IRS is a joke fr fr... they expect us to pay on time but take 47 years to send refunds 🀑

Time to contact your congressman/woman. They can usually get things moving

Do you know how to do that? Never contacted a rep before

Google ur district rep, most have forms on their website for tax help. Way easier than dealing w the IRS directly tbh
