Need to File Amended Return for $12,774 Unemployment Income Received on Form 1099-G After Already Filing 2021 Taxes

Just got Form 1099-G in the mail from the Georgia Department of Labor and I'm super confused. Already filed my taxes for 2021 but now I got this form showing my unemployment compensation. Not sure if this means I owe money back to the IRS or if I'm getting additional money. The form shows: GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR 148 ANDREW YOUNG INTERNATIONAL BLVD., ATLANTA, GA. 30303-1751 FED-ID 58-6002009 STA-ID 4413776-XB Form 1099-G (2021) Box 1 Unemployment Compensation: $12,774.00 Box 4 Federal Income Tax Withheld: $325.00 Box 5 ATAA/RTAA Payments: $0.00 Box 11 State Income Tax Withheld: $235.00 The instructions say "This is important tax information and is being furnished to the Internal Revenue Service. If you are required to file a return, a negligence penalty or other sanction will be imposed on you if this income is taxable and the IRS determines that it has not been reported." It also says I need to "Report this amount as income on the unemployment compensation line of your income tax return." I already filed my taxes for the year but didn't include this unemployment income. Anyone know what this actually means for my tax situation? Do I need to file an amended return now? Will I owe penalties since I didn't include almost $13K of unemployment compensation? The Georgia Department of Labor apparently withheld some taxes, but I'm not sure if that's enough to cover what I should have paid.

Tax pro here - Form 6475 is just showing how much stimulus money you received. It's not a bill! You use this to accurately report your stimulus payments on your tax return. If you already filed without this info, you might need to amend your return if the amounts don't match what you reported.

Only if you reported receiving less than you actually got. If you reported more, the IRS will likely adjust it automatically

Hey guys instead of guessing, I highly recommend using taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and what you need to do. It costs $4.99 but saved me hours of stress. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Is it legit? How does it work exactly?

100% legit! You upload your transcript and their AI breaks down everything - tells you what each code means, if you need to amend, and even predicts refund dates. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself

this is terrible advice. always better to fix it yourself than wait for the irs to find problems
