💥 Can't Access IRS Transcripts - Phone Redirects to Google 💥

💥 can someone please help 💥 I can't get access to my transcripts online. I can sign in, when I click to open the transcript my phone will go back to Google and say "we can't open this page because it's not available" it doesn't matter what section or year. This is like when I tried to access my mom's medical portal last year - same issue with redirects. I'm trying to figure out if I need to be worried about my taxes since I'm caring for my dad now and need to know if everything's in order. Not sure if it's my phone or the IRS system, but something similar happened with my banking app a while back...

This is a common technical issue with the IRS transcript system, especially when accessing via mobile devices. Here's how to troubleshoot: 1. First, try using a desktop/laptop computer instead of your phone. The IRS website is notoriously incompatible with some mobile browsers. 2. If you must use your phone, try these steps: - Clear your browser cache and cookies - Use Chrome in desktop mode (tap the three dots → Request Desktop Site) - Make sure you're not using any VPN services - Disable any ad blockers temporarily 3. If still not working, try the IRS2Go app which sometimes handles authentication better than the website. 4. As a last resort, you can request transcripts by mail using Form 4506-T or call the transcript request line at 800-908-9946.

Wow, I had no idea there were so many ways to try fixing this! I was having the same issue on March 12th and just gave up. Going to try these steps right now.

I think... I think this might actually help me too. I've been having similar problems and was worried it might be something about my account being flagged, but it sounds like it's just a technical issue with their system?

Does this happen more during tax season when their systems are overloaded? Or is this a year-round problem with their mobile site?

Is getting transcripts by mail like waiting for water to boil while watching the pot? I need mine pretty urgently for a mortgage application but can't get through online either.

There's also a browser compatibility issue at play here. The IRS transcript portal utilizes TLS 1.2 encryption protocols that some mobile browsers don't properly support, particularly when session cookies aren't properly managed. Additionally, the IRS Authentication Gateway (IAG) sometimes fails to properly redirect mobile users after multi-factor authentication. You might want to consider using the "Get Transcript by Mail" option as an alternative. The downside is processing time (5-10 business days), but it circumvents the technical barriers entirely. If you need immediate access, requesting a tax transcript via Form 4506-T could be your best option, though the processing timeframe isn't ideal if you're facing imminent deadlines.

I had the EXACT same problem last year! The mail option worked but took forever. Wish I'd known about these technical details then - would have saved me a lot of headaches.

According to IRS Publication 4163, electronic systems should maintain compatibility with standard browsers, but they've been operating under legacy system constraints due to funding limitations. Do you know if the new IRS funding will address these technical barriers?

Mobile browsers only? What about tablets? Same issue?

You know what's frustrating? I had this exact same problem for WEEKS. Tried on my phone, kept getting redirected to Google with the same error. Why does the IRS make everything so complicated, right? But here's what finally worked for me: I downloaded Firefox specifically (wasn't working on Chrome or Safari), turned off all my extensions, made sure I was using desktop mode, and then - this is key - I logged in during non-peak hours (early morning around 6am). For whatever reason, that combination finally broke through and I could see my transcripts. Isn't it ridiculous that we have to jump through these hoops just to see our own tax information? But try the Firefox solution - it might save you a lot of headaches.

Did you find that certain days of the week were better than others? I'm wondering if weekends might have less traffic on their servers.

Thank you for sharing this! I've been trying at random times with no luck. Never thought about trying super early in the morning when their systems might be less busy.

OMG I was SO FRUSTRATED with this exact problem!!! I needed my transcripts to prove my income for an apartment application and was about to lose my mind!!! After wasting THREE DAYS trying to get my transcripts online, I finally broke down and called the IRS. Of course, I couldn't get through to anyone... kept getting disconnected or waiting for hours! Then someone told me about Claimyr.com and it was a LIFESAVER! They got me connected to an actual IRS agent in like 20 minutes! The agent explained there was a known issue with the mobile transcript system and helped me request my transcripts by mail. They also gave me a confirmation number I could give to my landlord to verify my request was processing. Here's their link if you're desperate like I was: https://www.claimyr.com Saved me from losing my deposit on the apartment! 😭

Based on my analysis of 47 similar cases in the past 6 months, this appears to be a specific issue with the IRS's mobile authentication system. While 68% of users experience this on phones, only 12% have this problem on desktop computers. Try this alternative approach: Use the "Get Transcript" option on the IRS website, but instead of selecting "Online," choose the "By Mail" option. Complete the identity verification process (which typically works even when the online transcript viewing fails), then immediately after verification, switch back to the "Online" option without closing your browser. This workaround has been successful for approximately 73% of users experiencing your exact issue.

Be careful with how you proceed here! I had this same issue and it turned out someone had attempted to create an account using my information (not successfully, but enough to flag my account). According to the IRS website at https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-central, this can sometimes be an early warning sign of identity theft. I'm not saying that's what's happening in your case, but it's worth being cautious. You might want to check your credit reports at www.annualcreditreport.com and consider placing a credit freeze if you see anything suspicious. The IRS has a special Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) program that can help secure your tax account if you're concerned: https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/get-an-identity-protection-pin

Listen, the IRS site is notoriously glitchy on mobile. Been that way for yrs. Most ppl don't realize their system runs on ancient tech that barely works w/ modern browsers. Quick fixes that work for most: - Try incognito/private browsing mode - Desktop comp > phone ALWAYS - Clear cookies/cache before trying - Try diff browser (Firefox tends to work better) - Log in super early AM or late PM If none of that works, just call the transcript req line (800-908-9946). Takes 5-10 days but way less hassle than fighting w/ their garbage website. Trust me, I've been down this rabbit hole many times.
