"Invalid Address Error Prevents Access to 2021-2024 IRS Transcripts Needed for Mortgage Application"
I keep trying to access my 2021 transcripts on the IRS website (sa.www4.irs.gov) but I'm getting an error message saying "Could not open the page because the address is invalid." When I log in, I can see all my available transcripts clearly listed under "Available transcripts" - 2024 Return Transcript [PDF] EN, 2023 Return Transcript [PDF] EN, 2022 Return Transcript [PDF] EN, and 2021 Return Transcript [PDF] EN. I can also see "2021 Account Transcript [PDF] EN" and an option for "Wage & Income Transcripts" at the bottom of the list. But when I click on any of them, especially the 2021 Return Transcript [PDF] EN that I desperately need, a popup error appears saying "Could not open the page because the address is invalid" with just an "OK" button. After clicking OK, nothing happens and I'm stuck on the same page. I've also tried the "Show more transcripts" option but get the same error. This is extremely frustrating because I can literally see all my transcripts listed right there on the screen at 7:40, but can't actually access any of them. I need these documents for my mortgage application and time is running out. Anyone else dealing with this issue with the IRS transcript site? Has anyone found a workaround? Should I just call the IRS directly at this point? I've tried different browsers and clearing my cache but nothing seems to work.

The error message you're seeing ("Could not open the page because the address is invalid") at sa.www4.irs.gov appears on a page listing multiple transcript options from 2021-2024, including Return Transcripts and Wage & Income information. This specific error typically occurs due to the IRS website's security architecture and how it handles PDF document requests. The issue isn't that your transcripts don't exist - they're clearly listed and available as PDF documents in English (indicated by the [PDF] EN notation). Rather, it's a technical connection problem between your browser and the IRS servers. To resolve this: 1. Clear your browser cache and cookies specifically for irs.gov domains 2. Switch to Chrome, which is better optimized for the IRS's older security certificates 3. Ensure you're using a desktop browser rather than mobile 4. Enable pop-ups for irs.gov (essential since transcripts open in new windows) 5. If using a VPN, try disabling it as the IRS site may block certain IP ranges The "sa.www4" subdomain indicates you're in the secure access portion of the IRS website, which has additional security requirements that can sometimes conflict with modern browser security settings.

Hey guys instead of playing detective with these transcripts, I've been using taxr.ai. It costs a buck but its worth every penny. You upload your transcript and it tells you exactly whats going on and when to expect your refund. https://taxr.ai

•it analyzes everything - codes, dates, amounts, everything. gives you a timeline and explains any delays. way better than trying to decode it yourself
